The Virginia Tech massacre: remind me what kind of assault weapon he used? How about I save you a little time and tell you that it was done with handguns. That's right! Handguns! Not high-powered assault style weapons. Handguns! The dealiest mass murder in U.S. history was committed using 2 semi-automatic handguns.

I have seen some of the worst journalism ever in this story, it ranges from political associations to weapons and laws. First ABC said he was a tea party member, they had to publicly apologize then he was a member of OCW black bloc. Then they said the weapon he has, he couldn't get through the 1994-2004 ban which is false because until the ban was lifted you could get pre-ban rifles or new ARs slightly modified but still the same weapon and capabilities. Then they say its because of flash suppressors "that hide your shooting location at night" which again is false because it stops the flash from jumping up and blinding you while firing but the rifle still flashes it may be a smaller signature but still very noticeable from the end of the barrel. Its hard to believe any news media anymore its filled with misdirection and misinformation.

Good point! You could still get "pre-ban" assault weapons during the ban. It drove the price of them up, but they were still plentiful and just about anyone could purchase them. I'm all for better training and screening of potential buyers, but to outlaw or "ban" assault weapons has proven to be an utter failure and does NOTHING to deter gun violence.

I never understood why the gov felt they needed to make a suppressor(silencer) a class 3 item. I love it when other people who have them come and shoot with me, its nice not having to wear those ear plugs or clunky muffs all the time.

Of course they make them illegal because in the movies the bad guy always uses them to conceal that he is killing hundreds of people at a time with his 10000 round magazine that takes up no more space than a 12 round capacity one. As if only trained assassins would use them.

Having a gun for self defense implies no coercion. It is to REPEL acts of aggression if need be. Government "has a gun" behind nearly every one of their acts. They INITIATE AGGRESSION. They are not the same thing these things you compare.

Like I said worst journalism I have seen ever, left news media jumped on this so fast and just flat ass lied and or exaggerated the facts so bad its a lie. Even ABC tried to call him a tea party member its fucking sad really.
