How can i test a digital ballast

i was looking online and found a guy selling a lumatek ballast for a good price and want to buy it but he says he sold his raptor hood so he has no way to prove it works. i wanted to know if there is any way i can test the ballast to make sure it works without having to hook it up to a light.

All you need is a corded socket and bulb. Don't really need a hood.. But.. no I wouldn't trust anything but running it. There is no other way that I know of.

if you got the socket to go with it would only be able to use 600w to the bulb the dimable ballast go from like 600 - 1000+

Use a multimeter to test voltage on the outgoing plug I believe it should be roughly 300 some volts ... a digital ballast may know if the bulb is missing and not put out a signal/ current I'm not sure I test magnetic ballats all the time..... goodluck ooo u will want to use the alternating current test I believe I don't remember for sure

idk if this would work with most new digi ballasts,they almost all have built in shut down that sense's bad or blown bulbs.i would def want to see it not only light a bulb but keep it going for 15-20 mins if its used.gl

What's a good price because those ballasts(the 600w anyway) are fairly cheap anyway and then its new, but just my opinion, good luck!
