Clf or hps for flowering

i have 8 23watt clf natral day light bulbs..bx of 4 bulbs say 1600 lumens so i guess 3200 in total ... Is this enuff for flowering??? Not working with a large space ..i moved my gurls much closer to the light and added 2 more exhaust fans ...total amount of fans is six 4 exhaust 2 intakes ...what should i do?? Or should i just get an 400watt hid set up?? Trying to put them in to flowering in a few days

Minimal requirements of flowering is 10,000 lumens. If you can afford it go with the HID.

Small box,,, heat issues,,,

You're pulling 200w with those cfl's. Your best choice would be to run a 250w Ceramic Halide Bulb. You can use it full cycle, veg & flower. They put off more heat than the cfl's but way less than an equal size hps. You want the Philips Retro 100, best color spectrum short of plasma.

How many of the retro bulbs should i get ....do they fit into a standard light socket ? And where can i get them from?
NO they don't fit in a standard socket. They are the same as a metal halide (mh) or high pressure discharge (hps). You will need a ballast, a cmh needs a hps magnetic ballast (not digital) they are sold at several on line hydro outlets. Here's the info/hype on the bulb http://advancedtechlighting.com/cmhfact3.htm

There are many free photo editing programs out there. All allow the user to rotate the pic so when they post their pics it's easier to assess without neck sprain.

Here's my thing with CFL VS HID & LED (HPS or MH). Having used all 3, together as well as separately, if I can only have one light source for flowering it's HPS. However I currently run a 1000-watt HPS and 4 fluorescent tube fixtures. May sound odd but I run the tubes vertically and illuminate the sides of my flowering girls which I rotate a quarter turn every 3 hours. Some of my lower branches yield as well as many of those higher - at a price. Screw LED. Too expensive and too "iffy" in endurance. I have zero doubt about light spectrum with LED. However they are far too high at present to be more than a novelty or a tool for a rich boy. IMO. I was given one built by an engineer at Raytheon to test, spectrum was on it written in lingo I didn't understand in ratios etc. Red-orange-blue prevalent? Who knows. It overheated and top secret LED went away. Not until they are RELIABLE and cheaper.

Electricity

Heat

The same 2 issues everybody deals with. Closed area that is hard to ventilate? CFL. Larger with room to ventilate? HPS in my opinion.

Ok hps it is ill have some pics up soon with and update ...;.;..†hanks to u all
Check craigslist in your area. There are some really good buys if you look. Lots of folks buy planning to grow pot or just indoor garden. See the electric bill and decide to take up scrapbooking. I see grow lights, hydroponic and aeroponic units (I built both of various sizes myself for way less than even used), soils, anything a gardener can use or need. Good luck.
