Heat concerns

Hi guys, I'm after advise on trying to keep my heat issue under control, Im a couple of days into flower and using a what I would call a single tent, approx 6ft tall and 4ft wide, I have 5 plants which seem to be doing well, I'm now running 2x600w and had temperatures of 38c, in response to this reading I have decided to drop down to one light and now have a temp of 28c, I have notice what I would call some crispness to the top leaves and assume this is down to heat... ( I'm using a iPad and can't send pics for some reason ) I have put the light up higher for now, how long can I keep on one light before it effects the overall growth of what 2 lights would achieve ... Hope this makes sense.

All help appreciated.

hey friend!

1x600w with 28c will give better grow rate than 1200w with 38c.

Also, in your grow area 1200w is overkill. try aiming for 400-600w/m2. gl

you should just run one 600 watt in that size room. i use a 3x3 space and a 600 and my temps stay in the low 80's i keep the lights about 2 feet away from plants and ventillation is the up most importance out and intake.

Ok then are you saying my end result would be a lot better than my previous using 2x600 w .... Thanks you for your replies and apologies for lack of knowledge.

I have fitted easily 6 plants in 5 gallon containers under a single 600 watter. Your goal is to be above 10,000 lumens that is minimum lumen amount for a plant to flower. All you have to do is close the distance of your light fixture to your canopy if you think running one light will sacrifice alot of lumens for you. If you have air cooled light fixtures even the better because you can have the light inches away from your buds and the tops wont burn. Good call on switching one light off since you cant control the temperature as well. Your plants will stop growing if the ambient temperature is at and over 90 degrees farenheit.

the above 90 thing i'm not sure i agree with that over this summer i had a couple weeks where my ac went out and it was like 105 degree's outside and about 80 inside my house so my temps were hitting up in the 90's my indica plants didnt seem to like it but my sativa went crazy i think it really depends on strains

Hi and thank you to all who have taken time to respond, I am now a little confused with the lumens stuff as I was told lumens are nothing to do with growth rate, I was quoted " Lumens for humans" this has became a obsession and I'm really interested how to get the best from the plant, the strains are 3x Kush and 2x cheese, even when tempertures cool down outside and running 2x600w gives me a ok temperature I'm a right in believing that I should just stay with 1 lamp, any thoughts on LED grow lights as I'm thinking possible replacing with them. Vipar 4x 300w.

I agree for my past couple of grows I've had my temps during flowering peak in the mid 90s and hang near the mid 80s to 90 while the lights are on and they definitely still grow, it just might not be as good. Not to mention the outdoor plants I have that are getting 90+ temps all day and doing fine

Lumens is a measurement of light ( in Europe its Lux) basically translates to candlelights. The relationship of light and distance from your canopy is an inverse square law ( intensity of your light bulb = light output/distance. Light has a lot to do with growth rate dont know how you come to believe otherwise. Fact for marijuana plants to grow properly in must be in proper spectrum and intensity.

Listen to those advising turning off one of your lights in that space. But a man after my own heart. Go big, grow big.
