I'm midway between Sac and Fres but at that perfect elevation that's hotter than the valley or the higher foothills. Today is my third day of 110+, and the worst part is the nights stay hot. cn

I moved here back in 88.(from 11 years in CT.). this was the Valleys worst drought years and it really has not been too much better.. just less talk of it and the farmers are learning to adapt to it.. I was 18 at the time and I was looking out at the Lemoore NAS tarmacks seeing the heat waves simmering out there and to make it more perfect of a scene I saw a jackrabbit attempting to run across it..

The Valley has 2 Seasons..
HEAT and FOG.
I did not know what that was till about 2 years after living here and watching it creep into my girlfriends front door while we were on the couch the door slowly opened and this thick fog just rolled around the door way.. it was thick..


I miss the seasons.. I know folks (my wife for one) who has never left CA (did take her out finally to OR-WA-CAN)
I miss the green color most of all.. here it's just brown dust and crops.

I haven't seen the Yokel Valley, but south of Knights Ferry (Stanislaus county) there are some nameless hills that are a beautiful patch of desolate ranchland ... no trees and this rolling terrain. I always liked riding my bike on those backroads, except the gravel corners (not even turns ... corners. Aiee.) Spring, summer, winter ... gorgeous year 'round. Now they're burnt gray-gold. cn

It was 90 degrees at 1 am last night lol....Hopefully this wave ends soon....I can't wait to get some rain.....They say possibly tonight we will out here.......I doubt it.

It looks like there's some thundercell activity in the southern SJq valley already. Who knows ... maybe. We had a very cool electrical storm here three weeks ago ... I like unsettled weather. cn

Yeah it looked real gloomy this morning until about noonish. If we do get rain it will probably only for a brief period of time. Hopefully it rains hard.....not hail or anything but some good heavy rain.
