can you plant seeds right after you harvest them?

they look like it can go down straight away but some will say you have to keep them under the pillow in toothpaste tube for 3 years...but the true is the quicker you stick it to the soil the better plant you will have..think !!

can you germinate them right away? or do you have to let them sit to simulate winter or something?
Good question, i am interested as to the input on this one.
Myself, i usually harvest them and put them in Refridgerator before use, but that usually is more than 6 months.. So i am not too sure how early, or even if it makes a difference as to when you try to germinate them. That said, nature dictates another season until they would be germinated. :? Hmmmnnnn

Happy Germinating.

if the seeds are ready they will fall off the plant when you shake it. they will be dry at that point and ready to plant.
but i just read somewhere on the internet to leave them in a dark, cold and drafty room with the tv on for 6 months to simulate winter.

Orellej's first two sentences were dead on. However he neglected to tell you to leave the TV on An educational channel. Peace & be kind.

Orrelej was dead on with his first two sentences, but he forgot to tell you that the TV needs to be on an educational channel. Peace & be kind.

the op's question made me wonder. since he didn't know if the beans could be used right away, how much does he know about growing? (no disrespect intended.) i wondered cause if he didn't know that, how did he know how to pollenate? and if he "didn't" pollenate, how did the plant get seeded? if he didn't pollenate, then it sounds like maybe the plant hermmed. if that's the case, why germ. the beans? the beans won't be any good... hummmmmmm.......
