Tomorrow morning, the Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on four bills that would change the states medical marijuana law. In most cases, the bills call for changes that restrict access to medical marijuana. Heres the full summary of each, but in short:
HB 4834 Gives law enforcement officers direct access to patient registry information through the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) which federal agencies can access without requiring a warrant.
HB 4851 Creates a bona fide physician-patient relationship that would be necessary before a doctor could recommend marijuana, including that doctors continue to monitor the efficacy of marijuana for each patient.
HB 4853 Provides sentencing standards for the crime of selling medical marijuana in violation of the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act.
HB 4856 Requires patients transporting medical marijuana to carry it in a case in the trunk of their vehicle.
There are a few positives in the details of some of the bills, but overall, the bills propose radical restrictions not supported by Michigans voters that would make life harder for patients who need medical marijuana. For that reason, MPP opposes the legislation. Please write the members of the committee and ask them to oppose these bills.

The bill that really interests me is the bona fide doctor patient deal...I read the bill and I still don't understand how the state is going to call you and your doctor out as liars saying you don't have a bona fide relationship. Can somebody clarify? Looks like a smoke and mirrors bill that has no means of enforcement or clear guidelines... seems to me it'll just be business as usual if it passes.
The pigs having access to the patient registry don't really excite me but eh...doesn't particularly concern me either.

I'm sure theres fine print in there about it. Your doctor will have to show a complete medical history and other treatments for your condition that haven't worked etc... This bill alone will make a lot of people who went to some of the sketchy card mills illegal overnight. Question is, are they going to notify people that they don't think their Dr. is legit and give them a chance to find another, or just start raiding the card mills and their patients on record..??

Not sure, but I think the bona fide doctor is meant to curtail things like Internet/phone certification, signed blank forms and I would doubt they can apply it retroactively and they can't kick in until March 31st I believe, unless it's deemed emergency and voted in under immediate effect which the republican controled house has been doing at a rate of 96% or some absurd amount.

Can't a doctor say that due to doctor-patient confidentiality, this patient is one of my patients and that's why I signed it as such. Now kindly fuck off.
