Hey everyone!! Just got a 600W metal halide setup!!!! My plants have recently got little spots on their leaves and I'm wondering what they are. I have attached some pictures.

Also, how do I get rid of fruit flies in the grow room? I swear these guys never quit!! No matter how much I try to get rid of them they just won't go away!!!!!!!!!

Are they fruit flies or fungas nats? Check the plant problem forums to see a pic of the nats.

Well if you are seeing a lot of little flying gnats, then those are fungus gnats and they are there because there is a good chance that you are overwatering...water the plants only once the pot they are in gets feather light.

They're too small to even see properly or catch, so I presume they are fruit flies. I've never seen a gnat in my life, only on google though lol. Should I just get a bug spray and spray the tent? I'm afraid the plants will suffer. How about buying some lady bugs?

They probably are gnats. I may need about 30 lady bugs. I don't know where to buy them lol I don't think the nearest hydro store has them. If anything will 30 be enough for a 4x4 grow box? Also, will they die on me once the gnats are gone? I'd feel guilty if they did.

Fungus gnats and fruit flies are both types of gnats, but one is drawn to fruit, while the other is drawn to wetness and rot...Fungus gnats are drawn to most anything wet...

Put potato slices on the soil and wait 12 hours and check.. The maggots will be on the bottom of the tater is there. Then chuck the slices. Sticky traps and mosquito dunks in the water.

I just checked up on my plants!, the bastards are gnats!! I sprayed the plants with a solution of dish soap mixed with hot sauce and water, but the gnats are still not dead! I need ladybugs and fast. The nearest hydro store doesn't even have them, and neither does Home Depot. I am in big trouble!! My plants seem liek they can last only a day or two more! :(

Relax brotha man, if you get more stressed than the plants then they're gunna follow suit! Azamax is a really great product for all pests, use the soil drench application and that should make a serious impact on your gnats. Also, the other posters comments on the sticky traps is extremely useful. Lady bugs may not be the way to go, they have a tendency to get sucked into ventilation and subjected to decapitation by oscillating fan very quickly. Also looks like some of those spots may be caused by water droplet burns from spraying, dont over spray too much.

Hang in there, your babies will make it!!
