[HR][/HR] OK I am a newbie and I drink cheap gin. Recently bought a case of Seagram's "Special Reserve." Good price and not a bad gin. I prefer Boodles but am drinking Seagrams for the price. I prefer it with a good Spanish Manzanilla olive and no vermouth. I sometimes add a drop or two of a decent Scotch in lieu of said vermouth.
Any gin drinkers here?

Long ago and far away I would drink Martinis all the time.For the price.Gilby's Martini Gin was very good.A store brand ABC GIN was unexpectedly good for martinis and sold at rot-gut prices.Add vermouth etc.with an eye dropper,1 or 2 drops.Get a metal shaker with lid and strainer.Shaking bruises the gin and adds air to he drink,a nice drink.Swirling(not stiring) the Gin in the shaker will make a very cold drink and form ice crystals(nice) doesn't add air or bruise the Gin making a subtley diff.drink than the shaken Martini.Good sipping...

Hendricks, Bombay Saphire, Tanquray. If one runs out the bottle is replaced. Saphire is smooth enough to drink on rocks with a lime wedge.

Had in mind the gins that have a HEAVY aroma.The Bombay gins seems to be the leader here, with Saphire having the best smell IMO..I smell them all at work,but I am not the bartender so I'm not up on each brand name.

I'm late, but, gin goes with lots of stuff.I never drank gin much. If I am to go buy a bottle tonight(yes), I'll grab one of the above suggestions..
What mixes good with it? I'll google anyways.
I forget what the shit tastes like. Ive been drinking cuervo for the past few weeks
Club soda and lime is always good.
Gin and ginger Ale if you need it sweeter.
Gen n Juice.
My personal choice is Topo Chico (mineral water), lime and lemon verbena
Taste varies a little from Gin to Gin. But, Juniper... Bombay is so smooth it almost lack a flavor. Tanquray has more of the Juniper flavor and smell.
Good Gins readily available would be Bombay Saph, Hendricks, Tanquray. If you want the Gin taste, Tanq, if you want to avoid the gin taste bombay saph.

Bombay Sapphire and Tanquaray are the Gins for me although I might only have a Gin and Tonic once a month or so these days.
The Classic Martini with an Olive. Stirred not shaken of course. Maybe the odd Gibson Martini with a pickled onion instead. There is a reason the above are all classic drinks. They taste really good and are an excellent aperitiff.

not lately, but when i did used to drink, i liked seagram's extra dry better than a lot of vodkas, but not 3 olives. that stuff is like drinking water once you get past the initial alcohol burn.
