white power funny lol ^^^

so here is a better title.

Blue light is fuckin powerful you guys, even when it's not UV. My vision is starting to get fucked from all the pure blue 460 and 420 lighting we are using.

interesting Thread,
here are some of my calculation for white leds.
View attachment 2303332

While it is probably still too expensive to make ~ 300 white watts, I would love to see a fixture (maybe ~ 70 watts as a test) with 3 separate plugs (each on separate timers)

cool whites at lights on + neutral maybe 2 hours later, followed by warm whites from mid-cycle on + 740 at lights out for ~ 10 minutes

Where are all the White LEDs at?

If you used the high power LEDs at 70w or 100w it wouldn't be that expensive. One single LED that emits the wattage you are looking at. Even if you wanted to go 300w it wouldn't be that bad. The LEDs are around $40 a piece. So you would be looking at $160 for the LEDs to get 280w of pure white light. I suggested doing the same thing with the high power LEDs the other day(post #260). I'm sure it would beat out any HPS or MH HID any day.

im thinking multiple lower wattage white LEDs hold a chance to compete with T5. honestly HID is HID i dont think it can be replaced, improved yes, but the real question is how to improve? there are sulphur lights with perfect spectrum and now plasma lighting which still needs a lot of fine tuning before it can compete.

what i think ia 3 banks of 3 30w white leds

forget about the warm neutral and cool only i dont see a benifit in using the warm vs. neutral IMO. i would do 6 neutral and 3 cool. the 6 neutral on one timer the cools on another.

Sounds interesting, I'm guessing you would turn on the cools to emulate morning and then neutrals to emulate afternoon? I'm sure you could get by just fine with neutrals however. I definitely think I'm going to throw out my pure blue lights after this whole eye thing started happening.

Just wanted to inform everyone here. People have been getting melanoma from CFL's that have scratches or pieces of phosphor missing. This lets the 180nm UVc out of the lamp.

I would not add the 660s until the branches are near as tall as you want as they will bring stretch to a halt
I now have 4 flora suns,2 quantum 6500k,1 aqua sun and 1 red sun running. Thought I would use this for first week of 12/12 then swap out the quantum 6500's for quantum 2900's for the second week. Third week swap out the aqua sun with another red sun. Week 4 till done swap out the 2900's for the ulv 660's so I end up with 4 flora suns,2 red suns and 2 uvl 660's. Does this sound OK?

Any thoughts on 4 flora suns,2 red suns and 2 uvl 660's for flower on a scrog?
Seems pretty red. But I would like to see you do this and to make a journal so that we can see how it goes for you. Up to this point, no one has tried anything that red. I think that people will see that their spectra have been way bluer than they should be for budding. PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED WITH PHOTO.

Should get the 660's tomorrow but think I have at least one more week of veg to go. Call me crazy but I switched my light schedule a couple a days ago to 12 on 5.5 off 1.5 on 5 off. My timer is not digital and would sometimes only go 45 minutes on the 1 hour on part so I bumped it to 1.5. It's only been a couple days but they seem to be in the middle of a growth spurt.Maybe it's this schedule,it's suppose to make the plants happier?
