Plant Odor Varies what about you

Some days it is just as dank as heck but other days there is not much at all, anyone else notice this and does anyone know why?
 
The odor is directly related to the terpenes. And the terps evap at different temps, many related to scent evap at low temps. So the warmer your grow area the more terp release. Terp release is also related to rate of growth, and the stage of plant development.
 
green plants give off something called "green leaf volatiles" over the course of their development. (some familiar GLVs are the smell of cut grass or that "freshly picked tomato" smell)
could be a call to pollinate (some GLVs are released at a set stage of development to attract pollinators), could be a stress response.
 
I told a buddy that I won't put a plant into flower until it smells and he looked at me like I was crazy. I don't know, but a good veged plant gives off a certain scent when it's mature and ready to go.

He also laughed when I said that I don't start scoping the flowers for finish until I notice a scent change. I believe the THC really starts to give it's true scent the final couple weeks.

Just one mans opinion ;-)

@ WattSaver True brother, it is actually the turpenes that give a strain it's smell/flavor. I guess my point is related to the turpenes as they mature both in veg and flower. That said, I have bad red/green color vision so I may be blessed with better smell-o-vision :bigjoint:
