Hey sorry this is so late canna, that's not usually my style but I've been getting pretty hammered lately and deep thought is next to impossible in that state of mind!

I think my wording is a little mixed up, rereading it again the point isn't as clear as I thought. I think what I meant was that the things that would lead to solving those types of huge problems, like everybody agreeing that homeless people need help, is what should be simple. Some people feel they don't so that hinders progress.

Thank you for the reply. However what I see is sleight of hand. Getting everyone to agree is humanly not possible, so for me it makes the argument utopian. We can all agree in principle that it would be nice to take care of the homeless, but what shape that taking-care takes will vary tremendously from person to person.
A society has only so much vigor and productivity. One of the age-old agonies has always been how to divide the consumers of that vitality between tending to society's needs, and maintaining the force to keep another opportunistic neighbor from rendering the problem moot (or being the opportunist). cn

its hard to look at a situation objectively, its hard to see a the end when what we preach is not what we obey

id have to say most people , at least in america, thrive on antagonist and protagonist relationships, there is no such thing as respect, its just another word that is contextual based on reciprocation

so its hard when , someone hears if you want to make a difference you can do this . .i know many people that wont separate there trash to recycle lazy/contextual . . . . . . .like deforestation, increasing food safety issues with

livestock feed farms, technology and money that could be put toward water purification and agricultural and general education world wide, would be a small sum to what this country and its interest spend money on . . .

its simple and self centered when in Rome BS, i blame capitalism . . . .cant be helped that america is brain washed from all aspects of life from an early age . . . . . white picket fence 2.5 kids, dog,cat, Cell phone plan, TV/Cable, facebook

Internet, 3 cars(all new) . .yadda yadda yadda . . commercial america for sure . . .but not like its any different any place else its just a different channel

I think what we see here a lot is the inability to agree even on principals. Sometimes a person can't even agree on their own principals. My friend will tell you in one breath that drugs are bad for people (like his mother) and they should go to prison for doing them, and in the next breath say a man's home is his castle and he can do whatever he wants inside. He wants to appease his emotions in both situations. He doesn't want anyone telling him he can't smoke weed in his own basement, yet remembers how much drugs screwed up his mother's life, so thinks they should be banned. He admits that working out this conflict is more effort than he cares to put into it. Strangely he puts more effort into trying to justify this conflict than he would have to if he just resolved it, but that would mean admitting that drugs are fine and his mother just made bad choices, or else drugs are bad and he's making the same bad choices.

He wants others to respect his view, but can not clearly and consistently state his view. His view changes directions with the wind, and I think we see a lot of that here and throughout life. Many, many Americans want to eat their cake yet still have it sitting in front of them. Many people want you to respect their worldview, but have never taken the time to make sure they have one.
