Thank you for the reply. However what I see is sleight of hand. Getting everyone to agree is humanly not possible, so for me it makes the argument utopian. We can all agree in principle that it would be nice to take care of the homeless, but what shape that taking-care takes will vary tremendously from person to person.Hey sorry this is so late canna, that's not usually my style but I've been getting pretty hammered lately and deep thought is next to impossible in that state of mind!
I think my wording is a little mixed up, rereading it again the point isn't as clear as I thought. I think what I meant was that the things that would lead to solving those types of huge problems, like everybody agreeing that homeless people need help, is what should be simple. Some people feel they don't so that hinders progress.

A society has only so much vigor and productivity. One of the age-old agonies has always been how to divide the consumers of that vitality between tending to society's needs, and maintaining the force to keep another opportunistic neighbor from rendering the problem moot (or being the opportunist). cn
