there is such a thing as too much light but you won't have a problem with that at this stage the floros will not burn, ive had em touching a leaf before with not much trouble, and yes that was the problem why they streached so much and are so spindly. mylar everywhere and 10-15 cfls sounds good for this grow it sounds like you got another month to go on those plants meanwhile it gives you time to plan for the next gro and get supplies. do you know what kind of lights I mean when I say thos clip on fixtures, they are the ones tha have an aluminum reflector attached and you can clip em on to something ore just hang em.... I would sugest getting the y spliters and hangung them bitches all around the plants with the reflector removed
I have one of these clip lights..

text on side of light says "Halogen - FL 25° BEAM - 90W 120V

Will that work for anything?

By being a first grow im sure any grower would be reluctant to cut anything at all but,i think you can get a decent yield from cfls i have before and for 5 months of growing i would expect something i wont smoke in a day.My first grow i spent around 30$ for my light setup 10 23w cfls =10$ 10 socket adaptors =$12.50 2 power strips = $6 plus a extra lamp i already had with a 26w cfl over head.Yielded a lil over 2oz and i had to chop early.
Did you use CFLs to Veg and Flower?

hey how do you post your own thread on here? first timer?

take that spot light out and put a cfl in there and yea you got it if you get like 5 of them each with a adapter and hang em around the plants you will do ok, still better to have an even canopy and flower with an hps but you will be ok. keep om right up on em within 2 inches a fan blowing in them and they will stay short and grow fat stems.

Thanks. I read everywhere about all these needed nutrients/lights/soil.. I've just been using a standard grow light attached to a shower curtain pole, and stuck between my bathroom walls. I raise it as needed. Soil is just basic miracle grow. Tap water, and no special food.

I'm most definitely a nooby, as you can tell lol. It's been flowering (like in the 2nd pic) for a good month now. It's been growing for about 4-5 months total. When can I expect bud to start forming?

edit - Oh, and I have the light slightly angled towards the mirror. I put it next to the mirror I figured the light would bounce and maybe reach more of the plant? idk lol. Also, the main stem is weak or something, the plant is kinda of leaning on the mirror a bit to keep it up. =/
Put a fan in there, the breeze will help strengthen the stem, and maybe also lower your light, you appear to be stretching trying to get more light.

NO. The Halogen is good to see where your car is going, but not for the plant.
It has no useful qualities as flourescent, or others mentioned here.

Im gunna finish the flower process so I can get some experience with the whole end stage part.

About lighting, I think my problem was keeping them 6-8 inches away from the top.. (Would this cause it to stretch and lean?) I was afraid of burning the plant, or making it too hot.

Is there such a thing as too much light? Can I just put like 10-15 cfls around my bathroom with mylon everywhere?
Yes it will cause it to stretch. With CFL you want your lights 1.5" to 2" away from the plant, it will not burn them unless its the 55 watt CFLs. If you use those, back off to 3" to 3.5". They do not put out much heat but if you run 3-400 watts of CFL, it will get about 88-90 at canopy level. Mylar grow tents can be bought for as little as $90 for a 2' x 4' x 7'. Plenty of room for two healthy plants, and if you're just growing personal, I'd suggest organic soil, the flavor difference and the way it burns are so much different than chemically grown weed. But do what works best for you.

thanks for the info :) Can plants be vegd/flowered by just CFLs, or should I look into something like this for flowering? http://www.hpsgrowlightstore.com/hps1510/hot-best-value-1/ipower-grow-light-1000w-high-pressure-sodium-bulb.html

Oh, I also can get a 1000w metal halide bulb, I think I have one in the shop.

Oh, one thing I've been wondering is Humidity. I live in alabama where it's like 75-85% daily humidity, is this too high for the plants? I've heard like 40-50% is good. Should I look into a de-humidifier?

you want a 400w hps and you need more than just the buld you need a fixture a hood and a ballast a 1000w is overkill for what your doing here and its more than a 39 dollar buld you need the ballast and all the other stuff

ballasts limit the current in the circuit, right? If not I have no idea what they are lol. I'm gunna order that kit I think tussel.

The 400w kit would be good for 5-6 plants?

Also, what's this talk about 2700k/6500k ? Color Temp? Do i need a full spectrum? Hows all the color light stuff work if you all dont mind me asking. Or should I just stick with CFL to veg and HPS to flower for starters?

Don't cut off a single leaf. Branches only to clone. Get some real lights on it. A lot of it. Leggy with sparse veg - light hungry.

if you set up a closet with the 400w hps and all the exhaust fan circulation fan everything you could probably toss 6-9 plants under it easily depending on the size of the plant, you will have to learn how to use the light properly as for color temp if you buy a 400w set up all you need to know is metal halide for veg and high pressure sodium for flower. or daylight cfl for veg.
