ok well im stumped on what I should do here. I have a room that is 70 sq feet. give or take. well I wanted to either put a 600 watt or a 1000 watt. i kmow heat would be an issue. there is a fireplace right next to the room could i possibly vent my hot air into that... ( have no idea if its blocked off or not) so how could i go about doing this efficently.. by the way i have a 250 in this room but heat hasnt been an issue so havent needed to vent..... pleasehelp guys!!

i wanted to also add that i do have a window in this room but has to be sealed off due to light and window face neighbor..

Dimensions of the space would be better. Are you using a tent or the whole room? Exhaust via fireplace is fine.

First check to see if your chimney is open. Open the damper and look up in it (after waiting for any ash to fall first). If you can see light you can vent into it. Simply aim your exhaust vent up in it and secure the vent so it stays. Keep in mind temperature differentials can keep a chimney from drafting but warm air directed straight up in it should cause that to draft.

So you have 476 cf that you need to vent. A 500 cfm fan is what you would be looking at. You already have a 250w light? Is your hood sealed with glass?

find out if the fire place is blockd .. if not .. get a 6" ventilation and some tubeings and vet it out that way ..
its a great idea as hot air travels up .. and you dont even need a filter .. if you do it that way ..

now you only need a fresh air intake .. passiv will do .. is`t ther a ventilation opening over that window ? or can you make some kind ?

if not just run a tube or two from another room ..

and now your at it .. get a cool tube/hood for that 600/1000W .. will make a world of diffrent when it comes to heat ..

There should be handle of some sort to open it. The damper is simply a flap of iron. Closed it closes the opening. Open it fully and see the light. But seeing light already tells me you can vent in it easily. It must be open at least partially. Push your exhaust vent line as far up as you can and secure it somehow. By golly I'll help in any way since you're smart enough to be concerned about air right off the bat.

Go big to grow big on air, containers and lights!

well see thats the thing..like you said it would seem to me you open light is seen and closed no light.. i look straight up and only see the damper... i saw the light through the side of the handle by the opening of the damper

Okay guys well i tried to open to that damn fireplace and its sealed pretty good maybe just rusted shut... I honestly just started with my 250 if Im having no issues with heat.. heat stays like i said 77-80 with 250 in room. should I just use the 250 or would I need ventilation with 2 - 250 watts
