If you are referring to the need to produce chlorophyll during the vegetative stage to maintain a healthy plant then yes.

Some strains have less chlorophyll than others, that's why most sativa's take longer to finish. And some loose chlorophyll and produce accessory pigments, like the pigments Barney can't figure out!

Sativas should be a sort of dark lime green, if your plants are yellow, you=fail.

At least I admit I make mistakes through laziness instead of trying to justify them.

Do some research, you'll find that strains that are light green/near yellow green. This is because these plants have less chlorophyll.

BTW, the pic UB makes fun of was grown years ago.
Most all of the strains today are hybrids indica/sativa
so it's not as prevalent.

And no it was not a mistake bro, but I've made more than my fair share over the years.

Tell ya the truth, I'm not sure what you're asking. But if you supported the seedling (which you should have) then it sounds like your root system is doing well now.

You mentioned most plants are hybrids. Mine is a 90%+ indica hybrid Afghani Kush. It had nothing to do with the root system. The problem is the tall sativa genetics was kicking in those two weeks but the stem was only strong enough for indica growth. The plant has now slowed down. The leaves are bigger and bushier.

There was no grower error with lack of knowledge. It was unstable genetics. But you have to ask yourself, would you rather have a completely stable strain, or one that sacrifices it for yield and potency? You can say you're an expert all you want, but these days of hybriding plants to death, what you know goes out the window and each strain has it's own oddities, you can 't blame problems or differences with lack of knowledge.

Right now my garden is running 8 strains. Every one is different, Christ in a 10 pack of seeds I've gotten 4 different phenos.

I have a Querkle that's a super heavy feeder, produces pretty well, is super purple even in summer heat. I had an identical pheno that was sensitive to feeding and would drop fan leaves immediately if I fed or watered her on the same schedule as the rest of my grow.

I'm not even gonna get into the pheno variation I had with Plushberry. I did select one that is my favorite tasting smoke in a long time.
