First Grow 600 HPS/MH question

Hello first time grow here. I have a little plant about two inches tall under a 600 Watt MH at 50% power in my closet and im about to start 4 more seeds. I have two 600 Watt Ballasts that are interchangeable and i was wondering when my plant really start vegging should i run a 600 watt MH and a 600 Watt HPS in full crank 18/6~12/12 all way through grow cycle? Any input on this would be great thanks guys.

1200w for one plant seems excessive. I've always used hps for both veg and flower, so for just the one plant I'd use the 600w hps imo

I have 1 plant that's two inches right now under a 600 Watt at 50% power Once I have 5 Total plants that are about 11 inches I want to go to 1200 watts 600MH and 600HPS

IDk I felt like 600Watts MH on a little seedling about two inches was to much it only has 6 little leaves. Thanks Sworth looking into scrog now

yea I looked it up and it said for about 1200 watts i should have a 4-5Ft Screen which is perfect for my grow area. I'm definitely doing this its so simple and i imagine this increases the yields considerably

I wouldn't put a number on it, but it does make a bigger yield. And it gives you plenty to do: LSTing in veg, and Scrog training for the first few weeks of flower ...which is good news for my itching green fingers! ;)

There's a 5 plant ScrOG under 1250 watts in my sig. Talk about CHUNKY buds, and Big Cola's :leaf:
Scrog would be perfect.

Here's the lates pics in my grow. I've still got 30 days to go, and already got some good sample buds.








Had to pull, and sample one of the smaller chunky ones. :weed:
She actually does her nails by putting different colors of nail polish in a shot glass, swirling it, and dipping her nails. Pretty Wild.

That is amazing that's exactly what I want going 5 plants under 1200Watts, but my original question was is it OK to run a 600WAtt MH and 600 watt HPS at same time and is this most beneficial thing to do as lighting goes? Or shoudl I do two MH or two HPS

For veg HPS is good, but mixed spectrum bulbs are the rave now. Any way you can get more spectrum at em in veg would be good, but for flowering I would go with HPS. I've got 1000 watt HPS, and 250 MH in flower.
I would stick to two MH for veg, and two HPS for flower.

Some things, SCROG being one, make so much sense and so much more weed you wonder why everybody doesn't at least try it. I do a poor man's SCROG by topping and then braiding strains like Super Silver Haze and laying them horizontally by weighing them down.

You can run 600w full power, but not at 2 inches. That might start a heat vs light discussion. I have a 600w Sunmaster MH and a Lumatek LK-600...actually I have 2...one for the 600w Hortilux HPS. You'll love LST and SCROG!! Some people will run the MH for 2 more weeks when you flip to 12/12, but that will open another discussion LOL I also have an 8 bulb T-5 so I would be able to do a perpetual harvest...set up the assembly line :)

To answer your question, yes, no problem mixing the lighting, but you will want to rotate the plants so they equal time under both lights. In most cases a 600w light will cover about a 4x4 area.
Light good...heat, bad. How are you handling ventilation? Are you using reflectors? How big is your closet? Just a few questions....

Im actually planning on extending the closet out a little and enclosing it using plywood I also plan on running ducts from my ac vent to a hole on top of plywood also using a couple of blizzard fans. Mylar everywhere both lights have reflectors and i have a ozonator that i can set outside my enclosed closet in case of smells. Im using two co2 Grow bags for my co2. Ive actually spent allot of money on all the stuff so I hope this all pays off. May as well tell you guys my strains I have snow white growing that's about three inches and looking healthy and im about to start 4 Aurora Indicas soon as they get here. All fem seeds from nirvana. once the little guys take off i plan on using FF Happy Frog and maybe 15% miracle grow or less.

for your original question, i feel that MH is best from seed to abt 2 weeks into flowering, then switch to hps.

MH runs cooler, so less heat. Also, raise the light higher, your plants will thank you. your room temp may say one thing, but put your hand under the light and see if its warmer/hotter.

everything sounds good to me, except the use of SOIL (hate it) def use coco.
miracle gro as far as I know, is box-store garbage. Get some good nutrients at a grow shop
