N e one know if a survival blanket creates heat spots when used as a reflector?

They are actually made of mylar. I bought a pack of 4 for about 5 bucks with free shipping on ebay and used them instead of spending $25 on mylar.

emegency blankets do cause hot spots they are wrinkled to shit just buy some mylar its cheap and you put it up even without wrinkleing it its kinda a pain in the ass to work with. emergency blankets will obsorb light and create hot spots their far from being a good reflector of light. your best are flat white paint, mylar, and panda film ( black and white polly ). if you put an emergency blanket up to a light you will see it on the other side their made of mylar but their not good quality like the mylar you get at a hydro store cause light does not penatrate the mylar they sell you it just reflects it.

you act like mylar is gold ($25 for a piece of mylar) you can buy a 50' x 55" roll of mylar from htgsupply.com for $18 bucks if you can't afford mylar you can't afford to grow indoors. not to mention how cheap you can buy a can of flat white paint

Wouldn't use it as a reflector. But reflective matterial on walls it's good.

It moves around enough that it won't cause hot spots. It's pretty much the flimsy-ist shit I've ever messed around with. Just normal airflow with move it around, therefore, no heat spots.

well just as i dont have $25 i dont have $18 ether. lol I do have abunch of those mylar blankets tho.

not everybody is a big time grower/dealer, some of us are just growing a few plants for are medical use. or maybe i am just poor because I have yet to have enogh money to invest in the fancy mylar.... to many other things to buy.


I have also covered my homemade reflectors with the space blankets (cfl's ofcouse) and it works nicley.

I bought 25 space blankets for $10 and spent my $8 in savings on a timer to allow me to flower plants

Its going to be fine bro. As mentioned earlier they are "made" out of Mylar.

It's been mentioned before that flat white reflects better than any other material you can buy. I use flat white poster boards from staples and found it better than aluminum foil I once used, never used mylar tho but poster board is much cheeper and to me better...just my opinion.

I would be more worried about heat spots than anything.
From what I remember about reflectivity of the materials mentioned here (paint, mylar, space blankets) they are all from 90-98% so once the added distance from reflected light is taken into account, I doubt it makes much difference.
I would like to think that if all walls are covered, this reflected light would hit another wall and not be lost but this obviously isn't the case or we would all be hitting the 2+GPW numbers that the vertical guys are hitting.
