Some sort of BT (Bacillus thuringiensis) should do for you. I heard someone mentioning a product called "mosquito dips" but my mad Google skillz (tm) didn't turn up a specific product. Gnarly larvae though! cn

<edit> spotted my mistake. They're called Mosquito Dunks.

This might work! Going to pick some up and try it tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes. From the description "kills insects at their larval stage"...it sounds promising. Thank you!

Thanks for looking c-wiz™, I'll pick up some sns 244, and try it as well. I'm glad they're not hurting anything but I really don't like them being in there. They are stressing me out haha.

I think you have a winner here, I just looked up the product info regarding it and I think you might like what is says:

"Made with Bt-israelensis (Bt-i), a highly specific biological pesticide, this product represent a major breakthrough for people and the environment when compared with the traditional toxic chemical approach to mosquito control. Will NOT harm people, pets, wildlife or fish.

Easy To Use:
Once a month place wherever water accumulates around your home - you'll be rid of mosquitoes for the whole season. Each Dunk will effectively treat up to 100 square feet of surface water regardless of depth. They may also be broken in half to treat smaller areas. Great for use in water gardens, flower pots, bird baths, rain gutters and decorative ponds!

Hey,

I seem to have found a few of these on my roots. They don't seem to be hindering the plant growth but would like to eliminate them anyways. What ever happened in this thread? Did you use some pesticides? Did they ever hatch? I got a thousand questions, do you have any answers? I hope so :)

You're gonna use mosquito killer in your hydroponic res for worms?

Don't mess with that or bacteria. They'll probably like the bacteria. A strong solution of 29-35% H202 will kill 'em. But be careful, too much and it'll hurt your plants.

How much in a 10 gallon res of the 3%?

I don't think the 3% would do anything. I don't recommend running that in your res besides.

Get the deadly stuff. It's way more concentrated and cleaner. Inject 1-2ml per gallon of the 29%. As long as you don't exceed 3ml per gallon, your plants should be fine. You gotta make it strong or they won't die.

The h202 bottle recommends diluting like 2-3ml in a gallon of water and feeding your plants that weak solution, but I think you gotta give it more if you're trying to kill something. You gotta be careful, though, because an overdose can cause plant wilt (as documented in my journal).

You could give this a shot, it's deadly to insects and it's derived from a plant. Non toxic to humans...
