Should Welfare Recipients be Forced to Perform Community Service?

Or be cut off if they refuse?

There are many jobs that be can done that local governments cannot afford. Work like cleaning streets, removing unsightly graffiti to voluntary employment tutoring schoolchildren. Of course, single parents/caregivers for someone with a disability should not be made to work, only able bodied people would be made to work.

Handouts have proven not to work and send the wrong message. There is plenty of community service that can be done and this would give the person receiving public assistance some worth and work experience!

IMO I don't think anyone should be forced to do anything.

Getting welfare in exchange for work would only create a HUUUUUUUUGE liability. I wonder how many welfare workers would get injured on the job, requiring even more aid. Don't think for one second that there aren't people out there who would willingly lose a finger or a toe in exchange for lifelong government benefits and free cash.

The we can make it "voluntary" just like contributing to payroll taxes. If they don't voluntarily sign up for community work, no government assistance.

In a perfect world it would work, just like communism.

In reality it might be harder to supervise and more expensive than the current system.

Why wouldnt you assume that someone on welfare dosnt already have a full time job? or possibly multiple job's already?

If i had multiple jobs and was already working 40+ hours a week. would you expect me to preform community service on top of that?
What if i was working multiple jobs, AND going to college?
But i also had a kid, and could really benifit from food stamps?
and i really needed the help, because since im already working multiple jobs, and/or going to college, i needed to pay an arm and a leg for daycare for my kid/s.

Does that make any sense to you?

I disagree, you just don't give people free money, pretty soon it will be the nail in the coffin for this country.

Sure it makes sense, so would a daycare co/op comprised of community service volunteers.
But in your case and others like it, as long as you are trying to better yourself by working and putting yourself through school, I would call that an exception.

Right.. unqualified people working in a daycare. I can see how that would work. No background checks. No training. No childhood development education background. No first aid or CPR training. Yep. No need to worry there.

LMAO You are fucking kidding me, childhood development education!

A first aid and CPR certification cost about $50, much cheaper than the iphones most of these below poverty people have! Give me a break.

You have to be qualified to run a daycare, moron. You can't just nail a damn sign to your door and call yourself a daycare center.

Do you even pay attention to what you type anymore or are you too busy looking down at your list of talking points? Making desperate impoverished people pay $50.00 per course so they can qualify for welfare. Brilliant idea. Right up there with making people on welfare pay for their own drug testing in Florida. The GOP hits just keep on coming.

I think welfare should have a time limit but we should include a four year(required) college degree if not working. It should be a 5 year plan for a single mother 1 year to get your shit together and get a GED if needed and then 4 years of college which you should have time while your children are in school or daycare. No grade restrictions as long as your passing......yeah I know I am crazy I think we should teach a man to fish instead of throwing fish at them.

That's exactly what I was mocking! LMAO and notice no personal attack needed from me.
