400 Watt to a 1000 Watt Switch

hey guys and girls!
quick question.

currently i have 4 plants in a 5x5 tent 3 weeks into flower under a 400 watt hps.
my question is, can i switch to a 1000 watt from a 400 watt that late-ish into flower?
will it heat stress my plants?

i also have an aircooled hood if that helps...

yes you can just keep it high as you can and lower as they adjust also going to be a bitch keeping that cool.

yea the aircoold hood is a good move .. and a necessary one for a 1K lamp ..
make sure to keep a eye on temps .. your running 2 1/2 times as many watts now .. enough to heat a normal 2 room apartment ..

A 1000w light is the correct lighting for a 5x5 tent anyway but as already stated HOT AS HELL i got a switchable but i only use 400w bulbs since I'm trying to keep
my energy cost down and it heats up the whole second floor (3 rooms) of my house and it's in a closet,the heat seeps slowly but surely.

temp shouldnt be a problem for me.. i draw air from outside.. where im at, at nights it goes as low as 30 degrees f, and i can adjust accordingly by how much air im sucking in.

and how far should the lamp be away from tops?

i have a sealed window fan sucking everything out of the room, including heat..
my main concern is low yeild and fluffy buds....

I think most of us is concerned about that,but that can also be strain dependent,some plants grow fluff and yield low.My plants are short but has a lot of branching
so they still yield high even though under 2 feet,2-4oz per plant to be exact and these are 12/12 from seed.

yea heat build up can be a problem ..

I also use a tube to "collect" cold fresh air/co2 from out side the room my grow room is in (1/3 of a spare bed room)

that and a cool hood .. I been there believe me .. had a 600W HPS with out coolhood (got a good deal) this summer .. no fun ..

if my Ambi temps (tempetures inside my apartment) was 75F .. I easily had a raise in temps inside my grow room (3x6x6) on +5 right away =80F

and it did crawl up to 85F doing the night (had to run it at night to even have them temps as days time was hot this summer)

some days/nights was hotter tho and I had 90ish at my canopy

had to build a cool hood for my light





now my 75F ambi temps raise to 78F inside the grow room .. and stay there most of the night ..
hottest my term/hydrometer have been recording so fare is 80,5F
