I'm beginning to buy only heirloom seeds. Getting hard to find. Victory is good.

Here is another.

I buy seeds local now at the garden center or the co-op. Way too many problems with seeds by mail order.

Right now I'm not worried about getting any heirloom seeds because atm I am more busy getting the common kind and growing my selection of food that I can grow and master each play. One day I might try to get heirloom breeds but not till I've gotten those goals finished first.

What? So you don't understand the interest in them such as no Monsanto fucking around with your corn? The ability to regenerate seed for your own crops? Of course you don't. Better to not make any statement. Heirlooms grow like any others. Duh.

pretty sure toolage understands all that; what i took from his statement was that he wanted to practise his growing methods on "regular" (ie cheap) seed before shelling out for heirloom strains..... sort of like growing a few rounds of bagseed before springing for something a bit more upmarket.

the nice thing about heirloom strains is that if you do it right you only ever have to pay for them once.

we use west coast seeds -- they're local, certified organic, heirloom, open pollinated untreated (and their sunflower selection is to die for).

For chili pepper lovers go to Pepperjoe.com

I've gotten some of the best peppers ever from them! Plus they have GREAT customer service. They also have a link to his wives site for all sorts of tomatoes. Heirloom included.

That is exacly why I don't wanna go heirloom yet because they cost more and it beats spending $1 to $2 on alot of seeds to try out. I sped $2 on a jumbo pack of lettuce seeds that I've been growing. Not only that but its a indoor garden only so I have to perfect the environment and the setup.
