So sad. Two boys. Starting over.

Oh, my dreams of Jillybean have faded with the sun today...damn! I don't have a question, just looking for sympathy.

I only have room for two pots and was debating whether to try two Jillys again or to do one Jilly and one of the others I recently picked up: Apollo 13, Qush, Space Dawg, Ripped Bubba or Plushberry. I also have some bagseed and some Swazi Gold freebies.

But I really want some Jillybean, so I'm going to go for two more. And this time I'm going to scrog so I can get more veg time. On this last go I had to go to 12/12 at 4-5 weeks because they were going to be too big for my space.

I'll post results in 8-9 weeks!

Bummer... How big is your space? If it's big enough to flower two plants, it's for sure big enough to sex at least 4.

Thanks for responding, SpicySativa!

It's a 2x3x5.5 tent. I'm hydro, so two seeds would have to share one pot...and then where would I be if they were all female? I'd never be able to get rid of two!

That's okay. I accept the limitations and will look forward to another vegging adventure...(sniff, sob)...nah, it's all good. I learned a lot from those two boys...:)

Hmm... Or you could be ex-hydro, start a 5-pack of seeds in some 1-gal pots of organic soil, select the best two females, pot up to 3-5 gals, and go! :weed: Mmmmm... Delicious organic goodness....

Sorry... Had to say it.

Carry on. :joint:

I hear you...I'm going to try the hydro thing one more time -- at least to use up the nutes! If that works out, in the spring I'll mix up some supersoil and change my game a bit. Thanks for the food for thought. And the emoticon blunt.

Id say stick with the same kind, so like two more jillys or two of another kind. just so that way you'll be closer to having an even canopy. Two different kinds will probably veg/stretch more differently then two phenos. Theres ways around that, but its just easier. Just my 2cents.

Smart thinking! Thanks!

Good luck to you! I did just start to germinate two more Jillybean beans...Hopefully two males last time mean two females this time. :)

I feel you dude. I have limits on the number of plants i can have, I ran one seed at a time of ace of spades, and got 4 males out of a 5 pack. Atleast the female i got is really nice. I went out and boght clones of jillybean and qurkle. Because i dont have 6 months to find a female from a pack of seeds.

Ooooh, that musta hurt. My sympathies!!!! I went on a bit of a seed-buying binge, so I'm going through them all first, but then after that if I can scare up some clones in my neck of the woods, I will. Enjoy your AOS!

i've grown both. i'll give you my experiences.

Soil:
buy soil (miraclegro with 3 months of plant food mixed in)
buy pot
germinate seed
plant seed
water plant
harvest weed
if you forget to water once every 2 weeks the plants die

Hydro(flood and drain):
buy rubbermaid containers
buy rockwool
buy net pots
buy hydroton
buy nutrients
buy water pump and plastic tubing
buy flood and drain adapters
germinate seed
plant seed in hydroton
mix nutrients to correct ppm
check and adjust pH daily
add hydrogen peroxide daily
(optional step of creating your own microrganism tea to stave off algae and root rot every week)
clean reservoir and mix nutrients weekly
harvest weed
if you don't keep up on reservoir maintenance at least three times a week, the plants die
if you use too much nutrients, the plants die
if your power or water pump goes out, the plants die

Ha! I actually went with hydro because I figured it was the only shot the plants had at living. I have killed every plant within 5 feet of me for my entire life. Kudzu, cactus, everything. I didn't think a soil grow had a chance. I actually thought something where I have to adhere to formulas and measure precisely would work out better. I think I chose right. These two males were monsters and super healthy. I still have tons of supplies, so I will keep to hydro and use them up. But in the spring I'm going to mix up some super soil and do a soil grow and see how it pans out.
