Bad info leads to 8ish week veg

so im growing my first grow, and i wasnt sure how long the veg cycles and bloom cycles are so for the first few weeks my plants were on 20/4 lights then i switched it to18/6 for sleeping reasons. now i find out that i was supposed to start flowering at 5 weeks, i was following a fox farms feeding schedule but it must have been misprinted because i could have sworn i read that it was 8 weeks until bloom started. so my plants are starting bloom and they are close to 4 feet tall in my closet. how long should i bloom for? when should i look for sex this late? and how big should i expect them to get because they are almost touching my light. im using a 400w hps grow bulb in an xtrasun hood i have an osculating fan. i have 7 plants 2 are fem white widow and 5 are blue mystic fegular. i have been using fox farm trio big bloom, grow big, and tiger bloom asper the feeding booklet. with a sledge hammer flush at 7 weeks. my soil is 1/2 happy frog potting soil then 1/8 castings1/8 vermiculite 1/8 pearlite 1/8 peat moss. all are in 2 gallon pots

I hear they double in size when they flower. Some of the guys maybe could help you with a scrog or something, but it may be too late for that now. I'm not sure. Also from what I'm told 2 gallon's isn't really enough. It can probably work, but may make them run out of room when they get to flowering. Maybe someone more experience can help with that though. I'm on my first grow and I'm behind you.

i didnt mean for them to get this big, and im not going bigger than 2 gal i think because i dont want them to get larger

I lst and supercrop. Veg 2 months but I grow almost straight indica. Pull em over with plastic tape. Some additives are said to slow vertical growth.

you should bloom until you examine your trichomes and determine a certain percentage are cloudy. A cheap dope scope can be bought for 10 dollars or lesso n ebay for this.
when should i look for sex this late?
I'd imagine with an 8week veg they are already showing pre sex signs or signs right now, but if one were to turn their lights to 12/12 they would see more obvious signs of sex after a week.
and how big should i expect them to get because they are almost touching my light.
Double the size is what you can expect...Ive heard of some plants almost trippling.

bend your branches..........tie them down with string................even snap tall branches after crushing a spot 'tween your fingers. do what you gotta do to not fry your plants in lights.
