First time grow looking for feedback...

I posted some pics and stuff up here about a week ago maybe a little less. I have 5 plants growing in a homemade box. I have two 150w cfl lights and a fan blowing. I just picked up some fox farm veg growth stuff I have used twice. I am going to repost my first pics before I got the fan or cfls on it and ahow the growth difference. I bought some bloom off ebay for the ph levels but have no clue what to do with it or anything. Thanks let me nnow what to do next and if all is looking good? I was about a month into veg hut that was just on my porch until I spent the 100 bucks and did my indoor box.

You can see my first pics from 5 days ago here

looking alright for a first timer, from what i can see though you should add more perlite to your medium next time for better drainage/harder to overwater for you.

underneath is a lot of perlite. just the top layer i didn't add any extra. but i would say 20% of the mix is perlite

What does the perlite do? How much water should I be using? I have been filling a normal size 12oz water bottle up and putting that in all the plants one bottle evrry 2 days

Perlite helps aerate the soil. I'd back off on the watering. Use the weight system, lift your pots and only water when you can tell that the soil is dry. Let your plants set some roots in those pots.

The amount of water is debatable. You have to see what your plants are trying to tell you... I've heard people say let them droop a little bit before watering them again. A striving plant will become a thriving plant. When the plant goes looking for water, the root growth is apparent.

Okay. I will give them like 3 days with no water and then check the soil I have been watering a bottle of water every other day (between all the plants)

I am really only growing the 5-6 plants until I can figure out if I have a female or more

With CFL's for lighting they wont drink a whole lot. If you are a new grower, Dont overwater them and by all means go EASY on the Nutes. Half strength the dosage for awhile

Ehhh nice screen name

Water them and then lift the pot so you know what it weighs. Then wait til the pot is totally dry and lift it. I have no schedule. sometimes its 3 days, sometimes its 5. Lately its been 2 lately because my girls are fucking growing so fast, one grew 6" in a week, but that's how you listen to your plants. No schedule. Just paying attention to their needs.

Alright ill try that method and go from there....how do I keep them under three feet throughthe veg and flowering? Also this was bag seed....any way to know a female or male before flowering and or what type of bud they may produce?

No way to tell a female or male until they mature into flowering. And no way to tell what bud they produce from bagseed. I've seen some righteous colas from bagseed, just depends on how lucky you get. And as far as keeping them under 3'....LST is what you want. I did it to mine and I'm still going to get 5' plants I'm guessing by the rate their growing. When one of my plants was 1.5' in heighth, i threw it into 12/12. It's over 2' now, after 6 days. The flowering stage will grow your plants to 2 or 3 times the size you started.

Wow! Okay question for you then....do I put them into flowering early to keep them smaller or is there a way to top or cut them to not lose bud but still keep a managible height? Based of the pics how much longer would you vegbvegbefore flowering? As you can see I still have a decent amount of room in the cabinet for growth just dont know when to do the 12/12

I vegged mine for 5 weeks, but they grew HELLA quick. I've got 2 sour diesels and they LOVE to grow. At this point i'm at the mercy of what they grow, but for 5 weeks, I LST'd them. They should be taller but I grew them to be bushy and wide. Your what, 3 weeks in?

Topping won't make them smaller, just more nodes. I don't got by numbers of veg. I threw mine into 12/12 when I had the right height. I know a 1' plant will turn into 3' plus some with my LST. I waited too long to throw them into 12/12 and now I have to deal the possibility of massive ass plants.
