Dr. Pepper as a Nutrient? (cultivating Cannabis in the 21st Century)

I recently read in
Cultivating Cannabis in the 21st Century

It recommended Watering with Dr. Pepper.
(I think it compared it to molasses)
I don't have the book in front of me, i can physically look up exactly what it said, later if needed.

Has anyone heard of using Dr. Pepper for growing weed?

I've seen stupid posts like this before. Such as "Water with grape juice to turn weed purple"
And i'm already expecting the flames to come.
I'm not stupid.

But i only ask because a "grow bible" specifically recommends using Dr. Pepper.

Anyone heard of this?

Why water with doctor pepper? Hell of a lot cheaper to buy a jar of molasses and dilute it as one normally does.

I dont think it said to use it straight, but rather to add it to your nutrient solution.

im going to look it up exactly what it said, and quote it here, later.
because i was pretty shocked when i read it in the book, in black and white.

Any jerk with a few bucks can get a book published. I'm inclined to think that the very acidic soda would wreak havoc on the medium. That's the ultimate troll to put that type of crap into a book.

Its more for the soil and microbes as the same with molasses .. This is an old trick and its said that the Co2 is released into the roots as well . Seen this done with Coca Cola as well back in the 80s .

yeah most likely its for microlife.... no different the molassae, kool-aid, sugar water or etc. It feeds the microlife in the soil and allows them to thrive is all....

I guess in a pinch or at a guerilla site if you have some use it.... but there are much better cheaper options.

Greetings everyone. I thought I would stop in for a little, much needed clarification.

First to address PeyoteReligion - Actually it doesn't take any money to get a book published but there is a significant 'proving ground'. That being said, if you had actually read my book instead of just blindly, flaming it. You would probably realize that I don't propagate disinformation. More specifically, that hydroponic section was done by a world renowned aeroponic grower that revolutionized hydroponics. And if you haven't studied him or his work - I really don't think you have the knowledge to comment on his methods. A two liter bottle of Dr. Pepper: 50 gallon rez...pH'd after so again none of what you commented about is an issue.

Now that we got that straight - the science behind it. The carbonated water is simply an easier medium for nutrient intake. When carbon is attended to water it expands the molecule, allowing for more nutrients to be delivered more effectively and quicker. HFCS - yes, stimulates microbial growth in the soil. Phosphoric acid - big one here, of course we all know how important phosphorus is during flower right? And lastly, the sodium benzoate is derived from benzoic acid which is an important precursor for the synthesis of many other organic substances and sodium hydroxide to create sodium benozate and bacteriostatic and fungistatic under acidic conditions as well as adding trace amounts of sodium, a key micro element needed for producing big buds.

Simply put it is a catalyst for increasing brix content, effecting trichome development and the overall potency & size of the buds.

Very well said my friend!!The world needs more people with such a vast knowledge about cannabis like someone such as yourself who is truly kno!Now folks this is a science major who definitely has a degree in horticultural science.You all need to grab a pen, and paper and start writing these notes down for future reference.
