Anybody know of any free or cheap background check sites?

I need to get a look at my criminal background but don't want to pay $40-$50 like most of the sites I've come across charge.

Can I call my county gov. center and ask them for that type of information?

I specifically need to know about something that happened in a different state, so I'm not sure if they'd have that information..

your best bet is to go get fingerprints taken and do the mail-in for an actual fbi background check.
that way you get all the details.

the other option is whatever service employers use, but you have to be an employer and i'm sure it costs money.

Have you tried one of the people find sites? I was looking for some people that owe me money, and all the sites I came across wanted money to search, but I do recall a couple also giving option for a few bucks more (sorry, didn't pay attention to how much) offered background search also.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything for less than about $40.. Seems a bit steep just to check your own damn background..

Shouldn't that be free? WTF?

You can go to the county court house clerk and ask for a copy of your records. They may charge around 5 or 10 dollars.

Gan, you're usually on your game, but on this I have to disagree.

NEVER just give up your fingerprints. Unless it is something ver important to you, do not do it! Call the county records office where you think you have some history and have them mail a copy of your file. It will cost you money, but you will know EXACTLY what is in it. Shouldn't be more than $40.

My assumption was he already had his prints taken, for whatever happened in a different state. But at the same time I'm also guessing that whatever he did couldn't have been that bad, i mean he doesn't even know if it will be on there. all i know is in the state that's how you get your full criminal background records.

Try this and just change your state, see if this helps.

Pretty sure you'd have to go to the other state you are inquiring about to find that information. But recently I have used this one here because you can do a 5 day trial for $1.00. I had to do this to get a government job so I needed to know what was on my record. Good luck with your search!

i just don't understand how someone doesn't know what their own criminal background is like, no offense to pad of course, but if you've been arrested before, weren't you there at the time?
if you went to court, don't you know if you've been convicted of any crimes or not??

go online to your states official website, possible answer to the procedure to obtain arrest records there, my state has that info on their site, no fingerprints, $25.00 cost and forms.
