The Main-Lining Thread

Hey Nugs - The pictures look amazing for the book. They do look a bit dark but that may be my monitor. They are perfect beauty shots but may need more lighting to show the structure in more detail. I know I had a hell of a time getting pictures that actually showed what I had done in the ML process. Of course I did not have your killer gear! :)

Your buds came out amazing and thanks for the trim vid also. I taught me how to use my new scissors - I only cut myself once!

Here is a nightime long exposure of the Malawi Wall of Green (WOG) - It has a totally different composition than day shots:

Cheers,

....so here is the deal, this will be the last go (pics and documentation) of the ML process by me in this thread...these are the pictures that will ultimately be in my book...so you Nerds are getting a front row view.....if you have any critiques/criticism, or if the pics are not clear enough, let me know...as you guys are my pre-editors.....but i am quite happy with the "book" pics so far....i am still dialing in my studio lights for the larger plant pics, but i will get that worked out this week.......
am i missing something i don't see any pictures?

Did you get your Main Lining idea from how grapevines are trained Nugbuckets? It is very similar to the way some people train grapevines.

After watching some mainlined 12/12 from seed party cups in the led party cup competition, I realised that I had just enough time to top once or twice on a 12/12 from seed grow.

This upcoming run, everything has been topped once, some twice... I got 2 Dr. Grinspoon that I believe will grow pretty big and they have been topped twice, I dont think I have enough time for 8 tops though, they were both stunted after the second chop, they are so young still!!!

Looking forward to report the increased yield!! :bigjoint:

Here's a widow i started to mainline but had to bud her to make room  loving these super pots fucking roots were perfect.IMAG0459.jpgIMAG0461.jpgIMAG0457.jpgrunning into a issue with my big mainline gurl she is showing a healthy deficiency i guess I didn't take into acct. the longer veg time and heavy growth spurt there at the flip. But she is recovering and will post pics next day or two but she is going to be a very purty gurl I think

I got 2 female Jilly Bean mainlined for four tops in supersoil. Havent noticed a JB mainlign yet theyre branchy so dont think il get the total effect but for 6 weeks from seed theyre about 6 inches total branch height and 4 weeks veg in 7 gallons from transplant so the root mass compared to the height of the plant is awesome.

I topped for four because im only runnin a 400 and 8 tops get too wide for the grow space. 4 tops keep em nice and tight.

Ive been thinkin sub kinda mainligns but does it for 2 tops but the 2 tops allows for the side branching to grow.

This is a pic that Endurox posted above.....notice how the four mains originating off the same hub are very similar in size, but the two that originate just an inch below the hub are not even close to the same size and mass....this is what Main-Lining is all about, and this picture is a perfect example.....it is all about the hub.......nugs:leaf:

Frank, I'm sure you're logged in when you try and see pics? Other than that it would seem like a browser setting.

Maybe your personal preference settings here on ROI offer a yes / on photo viewing, but I don't think so.

I think that was Amaximus`s first attempt at main-lining, pretty cool party cup!! The difference is huge, I thought that the 2 lower branches would develop almost just as big from being below the hub but I guess not!

I have a question Nugbucket, through proper training, without main-lining, dont you think that the plants will give you the same over all yield? like the energy goes from the roots up and yes if it is mainlined each branch gets the same amount but if it wasnt mainlined, the same amount of energy would be going from the roots up only the distribution would be uneven (more in the bigger buds) , but if the plant is well trained, there will be a bigger bud but the rest will be at same distance from the light and still yield fairly well without popcorn if well trained.

Just trying to figure out what`s best for my style of growing, I notice that my plants were shocked after trying to squeeze in 2 topping within 30 days from seed 12/12 ... So I will see how they do but I find if I just tie down the main, the plant grows into a nice bush fairly quickly. I dont mind variation in the size of the buds, I am more concerned about overall yield.

I gotta say the Agent orange that I topped only once are not going to yield nearly as much as the one that I simply kept tying down, now I know 12/12 from seed is different style alltogether and there is no doubt that mainlining is the way to go if you are going to veg your plants, basically want to know what you think about overall energy distribution from the roots up, will be the same or not?

Also, in a situation like this (Amax`s picture) It would be a good idea to cut the 2 branches below the hub before flowering thats correct?
