hi guys i am in the last stage and in some weeks i will chop my plants . I have heard a lot abot harvesting but i didnt conclude somewhere. I would like to tell me what to do with preharvest stage (stop watering , 2 days total dark etc) and what to do with trimming and the hours that buds need to refresh air when they will be in jars ( hang all the plant and maybe not the brances... , days of harvesting etc)

what I did this year was diff from last.. this years grow was larger in height about the same in volume..

I stopped watering 3 days b4 then cut and hung up as much as I could without it hitting the ground... waited then trimmed... worked 100% better then trimming b4 hand and smells better as well...

lights off - not important
stop ferts - not important
stop watering - not important

To harvest you simply chop the plant, and then dry it, you can trim it before or after drying, that is your choice. Then just cure.

I read some people have tried to use skittles to enhance the pot flavor by adding it to the soil.... (not everything on RIU is 100%)

the harvest tut has some great info but yeah may not cover 100% of peoples thoughts so..

when you read the post what did it say the reason was for darkness??

I have read you do that to force them to flower... but not before drying...

each of us will have varied ideas and reasons we do cure or dry the way we do based on the info we have read and the exp we have been thru.

The idea behind a dark period before harvest i that the THC is supposedly built up at night, to be degraded by light in day, and then built up again at night. So by giving it a few days darkness you harvest with maximum THC. I've only seen 1 study to abck this up and it is flimsy at best.

Short tory on that one is it doesn't make enough difference for the end user to notice. Maybe on a piece of paper numbers are different, but as far as the person smoking is concerned, there is no difference. Most things like this i tend to do in side by side comparisson grows so i have my own experience and opinion, near all of these things, including flushing, have in my situation, proved to be a waste of time.

I didn't do any of that stuff, and mine is better already with no cure than the bud the seeds came from.
