The Secret Garden- Twin Blackstar 240.

Gnats are under control for the time being. Yea the yellowing started with the bagseed and I thought root bound. But now I am starting to see it on the lower leaves of other plants as well. Also a phosphate deficiency that's been a prop since the start. I can start adding some more buddha grow to my mix. I'm following the roots schedule and I am on week 5 fertilizing a couple times a week.

I had even thought maybe nute burn so I rinsed the pots really well with ro water and reapplied. Helped soften up the soil again but they look a little lacking. Maybe tomorrow night I will vacuum the fishtank and get all that nitrogen rich detritus.

My Roots Elemental wont be here forever. It was shipping out of CT and didn't leave before the hurricane.

Yet somehow beans that were shipped from overseas fri or sat got here today! Like customs said fuck this, get this shit out of here before the storm hits!

I am interested in a Blackstar led. They don't answer their phone or respond to emails. Are they still in business? D3monic, your grow looks great.

seriously mate try Area 51 LED if you want quick replies and good service AND a good quality light with honest spec's where the black stars can seem a little oversold on their website (not as good as they make out IMO)

Blackstar is like the ford of LED's, only they're most likely Hecho en China. I have a small one and they work great for veg., but IMO you have to cover every square inch of your footprint thoroughly or you will not be happy with the results in regards to buds.

Day 41

Lemon OG- I really like how she has turned out and would love to do a solid run of her.

I'm not overly impressed with my bud sizes. Not sure if 3 gal pot size, nutes or lighting was the limiting factor. I may try 5gal buckets next run.

Shes showing signs of nute deficiency. I think either potassium or Magnesium or both.- Thoughts?

_MG_8737_zpsb3bc6b92.jpg

I have cal mag supp and just a powdered magnesium on order. One should be here tomorrow.

I had a large ornamental knife fall off the top shelf while I was cleaning up. Landed right on her and broke one of the branches 95% off.
Nothing a little duct tape and zip ties won't fix.

Got one of those cheap 60-100x jeweler loupes with the iphone attachment case. curious to see if it works for damn.

^^^^looking good grower.........It's a mag def IMO(need natural pics!!)......but don't add anything until you find out your soil's ph/ could be a lock, adding cal/mag to a lock can really ruin them....find out your medium's ph!!!...........the small nugs can be from many things(their frosty as hell though!), I really doubt it's the 3gallon smart pots. When using BS240 and other low wattage panels, you have to maximize it's output...meaning horizontal training is your best friend with this tech, using those ring supports still keeps them too vertical and bunched together.....AND let your medium dry out completely under leds, it's very EASY to overwater with leds/ Can severely diminish your growth/yields.....good luck friend

Testing run off seemed a bit inaccurate and the crappy 3-1 probe I had didn't work for shit. Looks like the only probe that has gotten decent reviews is the Kelway soil pHD
I add limestone to my nute water every feeding because I didn't add to soil and it was naturally acidic. Not to mention my RO water is acidic. Next payday I'll order the Kelway one. I can very easily be mag deficient because the roots organics line is lacking in it and from what I have read mj under led's uses a lot more of it. That and my nitrogen levels and ect where fine. Wasn't until mid flower that the pronounced deficiency has shown.

looks like not enough N to me... whats your feed schedule once a week right? some lime stone every feeding you should be fine both Calmag and pH wise.

purple wreck and lemon og off the hook btw, had some lemon skunk recently that was killer recently, looks like your is going to be too.

I used 3 gallon and 5 gallon pots, but i found that going smaller was the trick. You get more feedings per grow cycle, it is easier to control any problems of Ph, nutrient deficiency and fast flushing. I grow a SOG in a 4x4 tent with 4 240 Blkstars using 1 gallon pots. Fast, quick and yields of around an oz per plant.

Do you still have that crappy 3-1 tester???.......if so give it one more try! make sure the probes have been polished with fine grit sand paper until shiny all over(they tarnish even in the original packaging over time!)/ next watering push it all the way in and wait two minutes(check the reading) under 6 or over 7 ph is NOT recommended by me......I've used these hd/lowes probes for years and they have been .3-.5 off(recently) from a friend's blue lab ph pen($200) on average....I used them at my old job all the time(when the digi's failed), the need to be buffed at every soil test!!

Carefull on adding Cal(not showing this def)/cal toxicity can lock mag......if your ph is solid just use diluted epson salts/mag (cheap).....

I feed twice a week with just ro and dolomite in between as needed. But I use aquarium water which is rich in N and I have been adding more buddha grow than called for on feeding schedule. http://www.aurorainnovations.org/Aurora_RootsOrganicsFeedingSchedule.pdf
hmmm off of that info i would say it a lock out of some sort from too much ferts. maybe too much microbe activity from the aquarium water causing pH swings, but the dol should be taking care of that... hmm at a loss, ive experienced similar problems when i was using my turtle water, so i stopped haven't had the problem since but i also changed my soil too.

New jewelers loupe came today. It's a bitch to use and only way I could get a pic half in focus was by trimming a tiny piece of leaf off and setting it on a stable surface.
Don't know why they uploaded sideways sorry.

Obviously they would be still clear but was neat checking it out.

i need to get me one im still not hip to this cloudy trichome thing i tried at one point but my little 60x aint enough power to see that shit lol.

looks sweet!

I don't know what happened... never saw any nanners. I was doing some work in garden. moving branches around so the buds get optimal light and all. Noticed the hairs on Lemon OG where starting to turn a pretty orange and shrivle up a little. Decided to look over the other plants. Same with Purple wreck. Skywalker og was still normal, Bag seed plants... Mature seeds noticable... unless a nanner looks and feels a lot like a seed. It was hard and when I squished it.

Here pic worth more than words

Plants were beat up and ugly as shit... I should have just tossed them. I'm certain they where the culprit. Looks to be primarily just the one plant.
I did pick apart a tiny bud from the bottom of lemon og and there was what looked like a micro seed in it. Worse part is I didn't really care for the bagseed smoke wise. It was just a plant to experiment with.

I don't mind having mature seeds. I can use them in a gorilla grow or something next spring but I don't wan't a bunch of crappy micro seeds that you can't pic out ruining the taste of my buds.

I'm going to just chop to the two bagseed and throw thier buds in the freezer to make hash. They where a lil frosty.

Chopped, found one tiny bunch of nanners while trimming. Filled a big jar 61 grams wet. Only 45 days in flower so I don't expect much hash from them but I don't want to risk any more of my harvest. Tossed in freezer until I can bring some dry ice home. Prolly tomorrow.
