LED for Vegging

Hello,

I am looking to place an order for a couple of custom Apollos for flowering and I was thinking about getting a smaller Apollo with 120 degree lenses for vegging. Can someone recommend a ratio for vegging? Or am I just wasting my money? I plan on getting the following ratio (I borrowed it from Damnecro) 660nm:630m:460nm:440nm 6:5:3:1 for my flowering Apollos.

Thanks!

I cannot help you with your question but when you get the right advice on lenses and spectrum ratios, I can guarantee you that you will not be wasting your money, LEDs are king of veg (imo king of flower as well but we can all agree on the king of veg!)

Good to hear! I'm hoping someone who configured one for vegging can advise me appropriately. I've been searching like crazy via google, but have been unsuccessful.

depending what kind of setup you have, you could get a flowering LED for vegging they veg amazingly well for me. Then it allows you to use it in flowering as well... but if your veg is going all the time then perhaps a veg light might be better suited for you.

I am using the same room for veg and flowering, so all of the plants will be grown for their full life in the same spot.

Thanks for that info, it sounds like getting a separate set of LEDs for vegging may be a waste then.

What light are you currently using? If it is a customized one, what spectrum are you using?

I use FERO/AREA 51 . . . then yes I would say veg light is a big waste for your situation. Like I said my flowering lights are vegging very nicely, beautiful healthy plants. You should buy a full spectrum light, perhaps one that you can start with less power and increase it as your plants get bigger. But dont get a light with 100%red like a Kessil ( they are great for side lighting but you gotta keep em fairly far otherwise they will bleach your plants) the af600 has a full spectrum range of 420-750nm... and I am getting great results with it.

I am interested in this question. I want to build a dedicated veg and dedicated flower led. I see a lot of info about flower led's but not much on veg. So please keep the responses coming. Thanks.

Thanks for that guod! What angle of lens would you recommend? If I had 2 more leds that I could add, what spectrum of light would be most beneficial to increase? Do you think that an Apollo 4 would be good enough for a 2x2.5 ft grow space?

my old 180(160W real) chin. Growlight(1W diodes)in a 2x2 ft tent stays between 70 - 100gr
think, you will see the same.

Wow great info guod. Based on this, I may as well just use my flowering Apollo's that I am going to use for vegging and supplement with some >6200nm cold white CFLs.
