For $50, you are stuck with CFLs, and not even the good 100W+ bulbs, the cheapo 65W bulbs. If you can add $20 to your light budget, you can get a 150W HPS from HTG Supply. A 150W wont grow super dense nugs, but it will grow them, and it's leaps and bounds above CFLs. And it doesn't get as hot as CFLs.

what do you mean stuck with cfl's? you can find good deals if you shop around.
400watt hps i won the bid for 8 bucks and 19.99 shipping. brand new. i got 4 for myself and 1 for a freind. at least 5 other members from here got in on the deal before the lights were gone.
made it remote ballast and have a light for under 30 bucks.

thanks i am sure you were thinking a hydro shop grow light with ballast and reflector for 50 is a no go. the industrial light isnt for everyone.

I used to have a job going to Home Depots taking out their old HID fixtures (same shit you have there basically) and replacing them with 4ft 4-tube t5 fixtures.
We just straight through the HID fixtures away (legally we had to, but I could had taken some had I known I'd be growing later in life).
Damn shame.
I'm talking like 350+fixtures per store, and like, dozens of stores.
Feels dumb now.

Man, you could have made tons of money on craigslist, too. People would pay for used lights, even if they were just using them in their barn or garage.
