well they are almost 1.5 months. still stunted looking but once they hit that rez they should blow up. btw how long does the taproot usually take to hit rez in a 7.5 gallon bucket? they will be 2.5 months by the time they are scheduled to be cloned. i do top. been topping since 5th set of true leaves. most have 4 tops and are getting bushy. i supercrop and lst too. ive been trying different methods on different plants to see what works best. i could clone now but i want them all to be cloned at around the same time to give them 2.5-3 months to flower since they are mostly sativas.
 
Oh i see. Another months growth will do wonders. It took mine about a week to hit res on 5 gal buckets. i watered right down the stalk daily until i saw rapid growth.

but mines are only 6-6.5 inches tall atm. seems so stunted compared to everyone else's 1.5 month pics. i hope the blow the fuck up when they hit the rez. where do u suggest taking clones from? top? or tops of any nodes?
 
If you are cloning early to have more mother material i would suggest the meristem/top. For just clones for the sake of clones i seem to have more luck with lower branches. If you are talking when you take your huge batch of clones..just clone every branch you have...but leave one growth node per branch. That way your mommas are ready for flower with new growth by the time your clones are.
 
Where branches or buds grow is a node. Just make sure to leave one spot per branch where other branches can grow out. Otherwise you lose that branch for bud production.

Well good luck but this isnt hempy. You dont need to waste 10 oz of water per feeding in hempy ive measured out how much mine take and dont even get over flow
 
so out of the 3 growth branches leave one right? got it! yeh i hardly get any overflow as well. maybe a few fl oz out of all 15 of my 7.5 gallons.
 
Well i figured my yellowing and spotting out. God damned fungus gnats from my girls house plants. Gave a good heavy watering few days back and lo and behold winged terrorists seen today. bunch must have hatched and im guessing they have been doing their work unnoticed. Havent had an issue with these fucks since i went hydro. Guess the nature of hempy makes em possible though.

Think ill hit them with h202 diluted down to 3% or so then probably cover em up with sand. That way i can limit their damage although about half of my crop comes down in 3 1/2 weeks and the rest about 10 days later (assuming my jack frost x kush seedlings dont go longer).

Plants are still making decent buds but some are very pale.
 
i dont know if my method can be classed as hempy but the principal is the same and i am wondering if the the way im watering can be improved, atm im watering every 3 days to top up the reservoir and replace the oxygen in the root mass hempy style...

could i do with watering every 2 days, or even everyday, i have not yet had to recirculate the feed from the res yet as the level has always dropped sufficiently when i come to water, but i will, in time, automate the feeding with a simple pump and tube system and im wondering how often to feed?

If you are only watering every 3 days and draining most of your rez in this same period, then I think you have hit the sweet spot. I personally don't want to water everyday.

It looks like your in coco. What is your nute choice and at what level are you feeding. It looks to me that you've found a good level below the plants threshold.

Now if you want to set up a pump in the bottom of your tray, and top feed, you are entering the realm of bubble-ponics. In a system like this you want a quick draining medium, & feed like 15min/hr (there are many threads that cover this option). I tried this with a separate sealed rez through 2 gal pots. It works but I hate rez maintenance. You have led me to believe that your system needs no rez maintenance. I like this idea.

Awesome array of 5x5. As for watering frequency, frequent watering is not an issue with several hydro methods including drip feed. My concern would be water standing too long, inviting bacteria/algae into your tray.....believe me...I can grow slime and algae faster than anybody I know and that's why I moved to the top-down feed with hempy's. It is worry free in that respect. See the 1/8" to 1/4" clearance in the correx around your bottles? Just that much light intrusion can start a farm pond if water stands anywhere. Unless you are a hydro-wizard with all the additives and the like, I would make absolutely sure your tray dries in between watering and keep leaves and debris out of there (maintenance is a must). Ensure the tray is level too. The bottom up watering method can suck up any problems in your tray into your bottles.

i chose the hesi range because they stabilize the ph really well ""whereby it can automatically adjust the pH value of the soil to achieve the desired level of acidity ""and they have little or no salts i believe i think that the reason the res dosn't move ph over time is totally down to hesi nutes and at the moment im using up the hesi bloom nutes i have left from soil growing i have been doing up till now, but this is working great so i am waiting to order my hesi coco which should be better .. im in coco with the bottom 3" perlite and fed them full nutes from 1 week and 1/4 strength before that

theres usually 1 cm left in the res from 2" ,before and after i feed i check the ph and its always 6, i have read through the "let it dry out" debate but for me this is the only way i can go so i will see how it goes, i only see the girls every 3 days and designed this system around that with a view to putting a pump in the res to feed them when i go away for a week holiday but thats a long way off and only a temporary fix and i would rather feed em fresh
