Hey-o RIU -

Checking in with my first grow thread here... I have been growing for abour 2.5 years now, all different setups (soil, aero, DWC, hempy), many different strains, just making my transition over to hempy SOG. I have been growing SOG in 1.5 gallon pots for about 4 months now, most previously I had an aero/NFT setup - that drove me crazy with all the PH/PPM fluctuations and leaks from my home-made 'stink buddy' setup.

Currently, I am growing all in soil other than the first 7 aurora clones I have in 2l hempy, as will be featured here primarily. I have another 13 aurora clones in the aero cloner, should be rooted and ready to go into 12/12, 2l hempy, in the next 3-5 days. I have 64 other soil SOG plants in various stages of bloom currently. 42 soil SOG plants under a 1000w, magnetic ballast, HTG "Big Kahuna" reflector. My soil setups run FFOF (+20 percent perilite) and the Fox Farms trio of nutes. On average, I pull 12g a plant, 22 plants every 3.5 weeks - roughly 1.75lb/2months or so.

My 2l hempy setup is going to be modeled on other setups I have seen and studied; as with alot of hempy SOG growers, I have been inspired by 420fied's "come SOG with me" thread on 420mag... General Hydro nutes (gro, bloom, micro) and botanicare cal/mag. 75/25 perilite/vermiculite mix. The drain trays I am using can hold up to 18 2l hempy's. I plan on running 2X18 plant trays under my 600w digital (lumatek bulb) with sunsystems 6" blockbuster reflector. These hempy's are sharing space with my other soil SOG plants under the 600w right now.

The plants pictured are 12 days into 12/12; watering every 2 days, 20oz every watering, sitting at about 850PPM at the moment.

Here are some shots of my four mother plants, clones and my bloom room. The house I stay in has a killer wine cellar in the basement that I converted to the bloom room. Underground, no temprature problems. I have two monster mother plants and two smaller ones that are in the process of replacing them.

My second strain is BC God's Bud, its a sativa dom pheno, I have been growing with it since day one 2.5 years ago. My wife loves it, mostly for its medical benefits. She has a disease called cyclic vomitting syndrome. The grow keeps her with medicine 24/7, as she needs it to function at all times without being nauseated or vomitting. I also make alot of bubble hash for her medical needs.

AND - I just bought some seeds for the first time in almost a year and started them this week; I will be trying Liberty Haze and Tangerine Dream from Barney's. The Liberty Haze just went into soil 2 days ago after being in a water cup for 2 days and papertowel for another day-and-a-half. I just went down stairs this AM and found that I have 3 sprouts! Exciting times...

Unlike the last time I ordered seeds and didnt think things through very well, I will be starting all 5 seeds, growing all of them large enough under my 8 light T5 to take clones off of and through process of elimination determine which pheno I like best and yields the highest. I don't introduce new strains that often so we will see how this works... The last time I started seeds I must have been baked the entire time because this never came across my mind and now Im stuck with an Aurora Indica strain that may not have been the best pheno out of the bunch last time. Ugh. Stay tuned on that front.

I also have some freebies (ordered from the 'Tude) that I will be trying as well - just popped a strawberry blue (world of seeds genetics) into a water glass yesterday.

Need to update this, will post pics tonight.. Having some excess nute issues with the hempy's, causing clawing fan leaves, will be flushing tonight..

Started 13 more, for 20 total in 2l hempy.

Just weighed up my last harvest, 21 plants, barely over 10g/plant. Some plants closer to 13g, others below the 10g mark :-/

Hoping my hempys can bump my weight!

Two shots of my most recent aurora indicas... These are soil plants from my 1000w side. Expected yield on this one is 10-11g dried.

Also, an update on the rest of the grow - my first 7 hempys (aurora clones) were overfertilizer and subsequently had tons of clawed fan leaves. Hence why I havent posted many pics of the hempy side since the start; they just got a heavy defol on Friday after the stretch ended at day 22 so they are looking a little better. I already knew my aurora plants were sensitive to nutes and I cranked the PPM up too soon. Little bit of a learning curve with me stepping back into hydro. I flushed them twice and now I'm back on track with about 700 PPM at day 25 into 12/12.

The other 14 hempys (a total of 21 right now) are only a week into 12/12 and I have backed WAY off the nute schedule I was planning on running. The little ones are only getting about 200-220 PPM right now, rather than the 500 PPM. GH nutes (gro, micro, bloom), the older plants will be supplemented with botanicare hydroplex.

I have 14 god's bud sitting at week 11 in 12/12, they like to add weight and ripen up until week 13 so we are two weeks off on those. I have been thinking that the 600W will eventually have 63 hempys under it in 3 trays. Still trying to decide if I stay with soil on my gods bud, which is exclusively under my 1000w at this moment. I have the ability to run 130 hempys under the two lights but DAMN that would be WORK and my wife is already pissed at how much time I spend in the garden LOL.

I have three new strains that are currently vegging under CFLs. Just popped a OG Kush (Reserva Privada) bean this week, I have two liberty haze seedlings (Barneys) that are about 10 days from popping and one strawberry blue (world of seeds) on the same time frame. These will be going under my 8 light T5 soon... stay tuned!!

Small update - my grow is in a basement and when you get 4" of rain in 30 hours, well, flooding happens. Ground water has invaded my basement the last two days, had to bust out the wet-vac and push broom and rely on my sump pump. Fucking annoying. Plants and lights are fine, just a major annoyance. Will post pics soon.

Pics of my hempy ladies - the smaller ones in the front are at day 12. Got a bit of neon green leaf color/purple fan leaf stems, need to use more cal/mag... my tap water sits at only 40 PPM out of the faucet...

Looks good, how many clones do you take from those trees?

I keep no mothers and have 10 or so strains running at a time, use to keep mothers but I found they became too big and were harder to clone once the branches hardened off. I now keep two trays of 25 clones in veg and a 24 site aero-cloner, each month I put the best 20 clones in flower and each clone returns 18g - 25g each after 8 weeks.

sounds good! do you veg those 20 clones before the flip ?

Yup, clones once rooted have 30 days to give back at least one clone and be ready to flower; here is the cycle:

- Newly cut clones spend 10 - 15 days in aero-cloner (usually have roots after 7 - 9 days)
- Rooted clones move to veg room where they stay for 30 days
- Around day 15 - 20 each clone is EXPECTED to provide 1 or 2 clones back to the cloner and spend the other 10 -15 days healing/growing in preparation for flower;
- The best 20 or so moves to flower around day 30, and the overgrown clones in veg get trimmed for clones again.

In the next 30 day's I can have 35 plants ready to provide clones or flower, the cycle has run for over a year and a half now (I think I am at harvest #17 since moving to perpetual SoG) and have run 9 strains in this time.

All accomplished with no mothers and clones all under 18", and two 4'x4' tents.

I can probably take 20 or more clones off the TREES (and I mean that literally, I grow BIG mother plants)... I have a 24 site aero cloner. I avoid the largest top growth as they dont clone as well as the side branches. I have been trying to supercrop my newest mother plants to keep the height down and growth wider rather than tall.
