What is the oldest seed you have germinated. I found a couple seeds from 4 years ago and wanna see what happens. If any germinate ill be happy. But really has anyone ever germinated a seed older then 2years. Im curious to see what may happen. Ive read they can last up to 10 years if kept in perfect conditions. Please only real first hand experiences that you or a close buddy have had. Any post gets rep.

I think most seeds we get from various seed banks are usually a few years old .... sometimes it shows.

I tired with 6-7 year old beans that I stored in horrible conditions. Out of the 60 beans only 7 popped Out of the 7 all died once tap root showed. Good luck. I had them stored in their breeder packs inside an empty wood cigar box inside a safe that for 4months was stored inside a move pod in the middle of summer when we had the record heat 95+

If they are stored properly I've had seeds last me for around 5 years. It helps a lot if you begin with quality seeds.

I highly doubt that. All seeds i get from the same place germinate no longer then 2 days. Ive had seeds 2 years old from the same place and they took a little under a week. Most strains i have baughten are sold out so quick as well sometimes i have to wait for new stock meaning there pretty much fresh from that season. What evidence do you have to prove that. Just curious.

Nice 20 years on a sativa. I wonder if that makes a difference sativa/indaca. Something else to look into. These are all great succeses none the less. I heard your also not suppose to completley frezze them as cell walls will rupture? anyone else have input on that as well?

I never freeze mine but I do keep them in the fridge and has kept them perfect for me. I actually have a fridge just dedicated for my growing lol.

20 year old seed popped thats all that matters at that point. Hell yeah +rep for that one. Sativas usualy end up lanky and airy for me. I always grew em outdoors though on the west coast. Maybe would be better indoor under a 1000w HPS

Me too one of those mini fridges. I took a can from a six pack and filled it about a 5th of the way with silica gel and keep the seeds in that. It just looks like a normal sixpack but the top comes off. Soon here im gonna have to make another can my first one is gettin full also i set the humidity to almost zero. As low as it will let me.

The worst place i ever kept seeds was in my bathroom under the sink in a styrofoam cup. Left em for like 3 years and planted em when i remembered. All turned out nice.

Also if you go into any shoe store you can try on like 20 pairs of shoes and take the silica gel out of each box. Theres usualy like 3-5 the good leather ones sometimes have bigger bags too. But any box of shoes will have em. SOmetimes you can ask for em too. Ive aquried about a 100 of em in the past few months. =)

See my sig below.

Grew out what had to have been a 12+ year old Mexican schwagg ceed recently with what consider to be good results, though for at least 2-3 years of that time, the ceeds were kept refrigerated.
