Hey all, got a question. I'm growing NYPD. first grow was from seeds (of coarse) and i'm on my 3rd crop from cloneing. The potency has not been hurt, but question is, how long can i continue cloneing these plants ?? Forever ?? or will it lose potency down the line. I like this strain and dont want to buy more seeds if its not necesary....

Thanks for any thoughts,
Mica

Some people will say they don't change, but i've personally witnessed the most incredible custom bred strain become totally different over time and was destroyed as a result of it. This took a few years though.

I've been cloning the same strain for a few years and it seems to only get better as I learn more each grow. Definatly hasn't gotten worse.

TGA Chernobyl mum I kept changed a few times in a small amount of time. So I got rid of her. The changes were more stretchy and more expresions unseen.

But I also have a Blue Cheese mum Ive ad years that is very consistent. Its also a matter of how well looked after they are, personaly pot and trim mums every 4 weeks and I use a stronger than normal soil. But i know and seen people keep mums in same pot untouched for months,years..

Cloneing is never like the seed crop either. What i meen is, a clone crop can be quicker as it as less time to mature, so it wont express traits that it would have

In theory they should never depreciate of change. The better the plant is looked after the stronger and more it will thrive witch will keep the clones strong. If neglect your mother plant then its not going to produce the same clones, they will be feeble like the mother at this point.

What I was referring to was taking clones off of clones, then clones off of them, and so on. Not having a mother kept alive and cloning off of her/them. Taking clones off of clones for years degrades the genetics from what I've seen.

Yes that is what I do. Clones from clones. Take clones from the "mother" then she goes to flower, repeat. Over 10 times now and I do not notice a degradation. It should only get better because no offense intended but I doubt the conditions are absolutely perfect for that strain the first time.
