Romulans are looking Juicey! did you start them by seed? and if so who did you go with. gotta love Romulan
Oh God, not too big but she did ok for an Indica 12/12 from seed considering I neglected her a bit as well. Smell is wicked , I will grow her again with some veg time.
Trying to figure out what you mean by "mothers" but I think you mean a mother plant thats used for only clones... Not to many of us do that as it usually takes up more space to keep a plant in constant veg as well as in a big pot... I use the plants I am vegging with the intentions of flowering to get cuttings from as do most growers rather than keeping one plant in perpetual veg... It really doesnt pay as the general consensus is genetic drift is a myth, however humans causing the genetics to drift due to mistreatment or neglect over a number of generations is a real thing.... treat your cuts good.
So then you take cuts before flowering plants let the clones root and let them veg for the 45 day+ time for the flower room to have space for new plants?
ive heard about this but ive read on forums and people talking about genetic drifting but maybe it is more caused by neglecting the cuts as you say. thank you!
Not necessarily to make room for new plants..... but I am trying to get a perpetual going at the moment.... I have 3 different strains and various phenos to weed through (no pun intended) however once it breaks down to having 1 or 2 strains/phenos I want to run constantly I'll initially get 4 clones of 1 plant that I plan on using, veg those 4 for however long, 45+ rooting is a good amount of time to veg... but now those 4 clones get vegged for however long but a week or 2 before flipping them to 12/12, I'll do a clean up of the lower 1/3rd to bottom 1/2 of the plant and use as much of what I remove for clones as possible and as a clean up of the bottom vegetation thats gonna turn into buds that are only good for bubble or canna butter.... I'll try to get at least 8 cuttings (double what I need as I only run 4 per light in a perfect situation) from the healthiest 1 or 2 of the bunch but if shit is running right (not that i can say mine always is...) you should be able to take cuts from any of them.....Trying to figure out what you mean by "mothers" but I think you mean a mother plant thats used for only clones... Now as long as the cuts you've taken are from healthy parts of the plant, and that plant wasnt abused in any way, left in a small pot too long and got root bound, having some kind of light timer failure, over or under fed, insect attacks etc anything to cause the plant stress.... the clones you took from the original seed plant will be 100% the same 50 generations down the line.... But as we all know its not always the case, somehow something always happens and its up to you to know when its time to chop that strain out of the lineup or if its that good, do some nurturing and use genetic drift in to your advantage and get the plant healthy, take a cut, veg and just baby the shit out of it for a couple generations and bring it back..... However, most strains will just herm eventually if they are abused too much and then they needs ta go..... I dont believe thats reversible...
As long as you are taking cuts from a healthy section of plant from a healthy plant to begin with, you wont see genetic drift......but if you take beat up cuts from shitty sections of shitty plants...... you get what you pay for basically......
thank you for your input i appreciate it. i understand what your saying about taking clones instead of mother plant. i will more than likely do that. here are some pitures of my roots!!!! this picture was week go theyre even bigger now! im waiting for of my plants to dry, they should be finished today. then i will move 16 into hydrorocks for titan flow and grow and 16 i will plant into roots organic potting soil then when i translpant into 7 gal smartpots i will layer the bottom 1/4 to 1/2 with supersoil. the reason i dont take the 16 clones and put them directly into a 7gal smartpot with SS on bottom and roots on top NOW is because my SS is still 4 weeks from being ready. At that point it would have been "cooking" for 7 weeksTrying to figure out what you mean by "mothers" but I think you mean a mother plant thats used for only clones... great info thank you! i think ive got it figured out. ive got 3 rooms. 1 clone/veg room and 2 flowering stations. i will start with 16 clones and every two weeks add 16 more until a Pharvest begins! Not necessarily to make room for new plants..... but I am trying to get a perpetual going at the moment.... not super soil but all organic nutes and 7 gal smart pots... their looking awesome! skywalker and fire go at 4 weeks old in flowerView attachment 2421578View attachment 2421579View attachment 2421581Thanks and good luck..... I like the ez-cloners myself.... I have a 60 site but done use it too often....I could have actually used it recently but I need new neoprene collars and didnt feel like spending the $ on it so I used a cell tray with coco......last time I'll be doing that. The hardest part about the ez-cloners is how the water should be kept during the run but once thats figured out I've seen people get beginning of roots in 4 days and full on ready to be transplanted in 7...... Again good luck with your grow, make sure to post update pics in the appropriate threads..... Nothing better than seeing everyone doing what we do in our own way and seeing the results..... I think you'll be very happy with the decision to run super soil..... I am on my first run with it and theres no going back or switching to anything else for a long LONG time..... The only thing I do aside from the supersoil is use compost teas.... I have yet to finish a run but I'm almost halfway there so soon enough.....
