Need some info on LED's

Hi,

Recently I posted a thread here asking about good LED lights, I got some replies on companies you guys liked, and emailed them.
Currently I'm thinking about FeroLed or Hans's panel from Bonsaihero.

The Bonsaihero panel draws only 65W and has no fan and will cost me about 200 euro.
Feroled draws 130W, has a fan to cool the lights, and will cost me about 300 euro.

Feroled claimed that having a fan was essential to the lifetime of the lights, they claimed that they thought that the Bonsaihero panel will have a significantly shorter lifespan than the Feroled panel.

Do you guys have any good info on this?

I know psuagro could give you more infos about hans panel,

but I have a HSS(haight solid state?) that has no cooling fan and 5 watts LED! and I use the light for seedlings ... it does look like it will last for a long time only because it appears not much power is being pushed through those diodes. I dont know how hans panel work.

I have the Hans panel(wish I bought two).....their are some things you need to consider before purchasing:

You should buy two, cause of the price discount and the options it opens up for you......if the price is too high then go for the Fero, it should do two plants comfortably(generally speaking)

If you opt for one hans, realize you plant can't go over three feet at harvest(topping or training is a must)! two plants is pushing it and you will have to stick to mostly indica dom strains.....with two panels, run one as side lighting and one on top: it's a whole different beast, will kill it IMO....That's what I'm planing on doing in my next grow, The inda-grow on top and hans on the side:)

The cooling design of hans panel is fine.......It has no finned heat sink(just a flat metal back) because the driver is remote(that's finned) and is HOT which removes most of the heat from the leds themselves/ he also included a small fan(1watt) for even more heat removal off the leds....I feel the faintest warmth when I touch the panel, meaning the leds are runnng cool and at their most lm/w.......he has improved it even more with the new design

I have a haight ppf 1600 I bought used that gets hot as can be and even has stickers on it warning you. I haven't even bothered hanging this panel but when I do I'm pretty sure I'll remove the cheesy plastic splash guard that fogs over easy from heat I suppose. I see on their webpage they've had a drastic reduction in price , couldn't imagine why, maybe it's because their lights don't work? you must have a ppf 800 if you use it on seedlings, I can't see using a ppf 1600 on them(really can't see using either since they lack much blue) , the ppf 1600 draw is like 350 watts(according to kill-a-watt meter) divided by 63 diodes or so is 5.5 watts average per diode, these panels have 5 and 6 watt diodes on them. sorry for getting off topic op. on topic rapidled.com. I'm certainly interested in putting together a nice blue/white panel with their solderless kits but have enough panels atm.

no I have the even smaller panel the ppf400 . I am glad I didnt get any bigger ... I really like it to veg my seedlings hehe. I tried growing flowers with it and I made a few mistakes and got poor results both time but I know they are not worth trying again.

I believe I'm with you on that and haven't even hung the light, seems like it would be a good idea, 5 and 6 watt diodes running at full power. guess not.
