A 7-year-old girl suffering from leukemia is one of Oregon's youngest medical marijuana patients.
Her mother says she gives her daughter marijuana pills to combat the effects of chemotherapy, but her father, who lives in North Dakota, worries about the effects of the drug on her brain development.
Mykayla Comstock was diagnosed with leukemia last spring. Her mother treats her with a gram of cannabis oil daily, The Oregonian reported
.
Mykayla's mother credits the drug for the leukemia's remission. "As a mother, I am going to try anything before she can potentially fall on the other side," said Erin Purchase, 25, who with her boyfriend administers Mykayla's cannabis.
The girl says the drug helps her eat and sleep but also makes her feel "funny."
"It helps me eat and sleep," Mykayla said. "The chemotherapy makes you feel like you want to stay up all night long."

Just read about this, hopefully it brings more attention to the subject and helps educate some of the ignorance out there regarding marijuana.

Lets hope it becomes something similar to Lorenzo's oil with results that garner the proper and just attention this medicine deserves.

Smoking weed before age 16 can lead to problems with the development of the brain and I'm guessing if this stuff gets her stoned then it will hurt the development of her brain. But given her circumstances it's completely acceptable. I'm sure it's not 16 for everyone because not everyone develops at the same pace, but roughly around that age.

They should try her out on that new cannabinoid synthetic which is high percentage of CBDs and lower/minimal THC, so she can't get stoned

I think THC is the chemical that attacks cancer cells by making them so hungry they devour themselves.

If you mean Sativex™, it's not synthetic (yes! It's an extract!), and it's about even CBD to THC. And it's not yet released to the mkt in the USA. When it is ... is when i expect to see a vigorous Federal response against the rogue States with MJ-condoning laws. cn

I guarantee chemo is doing WAY more damage to her mind and body than cannabis oil. Hell advil has worse side effects. At least she will still have a mind to worry about..
