The Main-Lining Thread

^^^ this is why i am loving my new Vermifire base.....notice how uniform the color of the leaves are in the top 2 pics, she has a nice healthy sheen, and there is not scorching/cupping etc......very nice.

Amazing shot, i can only hope to get something close to that!

I was watching at the school of dank:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvbjQ2JsXBQ&feature=plcp

Is it it me or does Subcool says that Appolo hates mainlining at 16'30" or so?
he tried Main-Lining on his Apollo, and hacked her way back, and it took her forever to grow back out....so he thinks it does not like it, but i bet if done properly, she wouldn't mind too much...

"You can't blame the tool , only the worker" am i right?

Thanks for the answer i'll be main-linning (btw i got my answers about topping - fom node 5 - i'll do that on monday)

Have a dank day :)

Did I miss it or have u posted how ur mixing with that? Normal ratios as always for the SS w/ Vermifire?

All looks great Nugs. Your Timewreck has less stretch then id have imagined... And im excited about your queen of hearts too. :weed:

yeah, my TW in the test cab seems pretty stout too...am thinking it will be just about perfect for my set up....

Alright, here is my latest soil recipe.....exactly....1/2 batches
Base Soil:

2- Vermifire
1- roots reg.
1- coco
#30 lbs castings
3/8 cup dolomite
sample pack mycos

Super Soil

the above base (exactly)
3 # blood 13-0-0
3 # bat poop 0-5-0 (with bennies).....happy frog
3 # fish bone meal 3-16-0 (dr.earth)
1/4 cup azomite
3/8 cup dolomite
3/8 cup epsom
sample pack of mycos
1 T powdered humic acid (mixed in 1 gal. h2o)

wet, mix, store 6 weeks at room temp.......
this is exactly what you will see me running....i will be using R/O water with 1/2 T per gallon Cal/Mg from GO (it also has sugars added)
i will give sucanat at day 25 and day 40.
all plants will be started with 40% SS......except for maybe any kush dom phenos.

you will use less for the kush dom phenos?

from what I am seeing in my garden now, it seems like none of my indicas are liking the containers with 1/3 or 1/3+ SS... too hot for them they all have the claw. Next time around I will use 1/4 SS for my indicas (important to mention: 12/12 from seed)

right, my indicas i use less, sativas more....but as a rule i start with 40% with strains i have not run yet.....but less with indica dom. strains....

I get that because they need more time sativa dominant get more super soil. What seems couter intuitive to me is that i'd always read that indicas are less nutrients sensitive - understand: you gorwer can dump more nutes - sativas can be overfed way easily.... (That seems especially true with those hydro boys that have much high EC with the indica dominant - ADN with the Kushy Kush --> kush have heavier and more specific needs)
Is that an urban legend created to sell more nutes, indicas might be less sensitive but they dont need more nutes? (Things you prove by putting less SS but still getting dope result with AOS for exemple?)

Peace

Ps: The weirdest thing with TGA genetics -and that's one of the reason i love his strains - is that some 70% sativas flower quicker than most indica dominant from other breeder, the fact that you would still put more SS for her than for say the headband you grew -loved her- makes no sense at all!
(You'd put more SS for a plant that supposedly needs less nutes and flower faster!!!)

i agree, one my favorite attributes about TGA is how quickly the Sativa dom. phenos finish......i seriously can pull my Vortex at 48 days, and it will be 15% amber.....Sub was brilliant in choosing JTR and SQ as breeders through the years, as they both can finish early and contribute to overall early finish times in their hybrids.

It's my understanding that temperature and nutrient uptake go hand in hand. The higher the temperature the more nutrients the plant will try to feed on. So if you are running 40% and getting the claw, maybe your temperature is a bit high for the environment. Just a thought. Someone step in if I am way off here.

Nice! Thanks, Nugs. Much appreciated. I like those half batch quantities, too. I'm planning on mixing up a new SS batch here in a couple weeks, and wanted to try that Vermifire.

Last question: So watering with Cal/Mg every time then? I ask because I feel like I'm often battling the Cal/Mg deficiencies. :peace:

yes....per "light" feeding on the bottle......

Man am I glad I decided to check this thread out. Amazing technique nugs and great info made it real easy to follow I read through about 70 or so pages. Been gone from RIU and growing for awhile now. But you have inspired me to start again your plants are beautiful and I am absolutely in love with your AOS cut "Fruity Pebbles". Will be trying this technique from here on out and will keep track of my progress as soon as a few essentials I need are finished being shipped to me. Really loved the thread appreciate all the info bro.

White Balance....:leaf:

....settling in on a white balance setting on my cam.....on my Nikon D-3100...this is the Florescent #4 (cool white) setting, and i am using 5000K spot lights.....no post shot color adjusting....my goal is to get my flower shots perfect out of the camera, as natural as humanly possible, with little to no adjustments.....this is almost exactly what they look like with the human eye...
