I need some input from experienced growers

Hey guys so let me start off by saying I just joined, this is my first post and pretty soon it will be my first time growing!
Now that I got that out of the way I wanted to ask a few questions about my grow box and if it would be enough space. The box that I plan on growing in is about 6" long x 19" wide x 20" tall.
I just wanted to know if you think this would be enough room for a SINGLE plant grow. I also need to know if I would be able to yield at least an ounce!


I plan on putting the lights like this...

The only thing I plan on doing different is putting 2 exhaust fans on the top of my box and 1 intake on the side.(Maybe passive intake? let me know what you think will be best)
Right now I'm not sure on exactly what lights I will be putting in so any advice for the lights for my specific grow will be greatly appreciated! (Im on a budget btw)
Currently I am confused on what soil and how much/what kind of water.
I heard that lighter soils are good for young'ns and that I should buy distilled water? Another part that I am confused on would be the nutrients. I remember reading in some of the Beginner sticky's that you need nutrients, one high in nitrogen and the other high in phosphorus and potassium. If there is any other key information I am leaving out let me know! I read through plenty of guides and I have a somewhat solid grip on what I need, I just need that extra boost from someone to tell me what I need for MY particular setup! Thanks in advance...

you might want to use a wood or at least cardboard box the light socket bases might get warm enough to melt the foam and or start a fire!!!other than that if you can manage to keep the height down off the top bulbs use should be able to get somthin maybe a half o or if you do it right a full one

That box is way too small.

Guys I gave that picture as an example of how I want the LIGHTS to be placed... The box I want to make is going to be made out of wood but with the dimensions I gave above... Also if you take a couple minutes to visit the link I provided the guy with the styrofoam box pulled it off and got dam near a ounce I believe and he harvested early

You could grow a little teeeeny tiny bud with that if you flower before it outgrows the box.

Don't listen to those blessed with space and privacy for big grows. You can grow decent bud, even really great bud in small boxes and total stealth situations.

As long as it has a lot of good dirt for the roots, you LST it so it has multiple bud sites and it doesn't touch the lights, and you give it the right nutrients, it will grow just fine. I don't know about an ounce, probably, but that depends on all the factors working together.

I can recommend either black gold or foxfarm ocean forest for soils, both have grown well for me.
Foxfarm big bloom and tiger bloom all through flowering starting small and watching the plants react.
Watch the temps with a hygrometer that shows highs and lows for the past 24hrs or whatever so you can track what's happening. Different times of the day can swing temps if the room isn't climate controlled.

I would also have a way to let the excess water leak out of the bottom of whatever box you use or your roots will rot. You might have already planned for that, but it's a suggestion.

Foxfarm! thats the soil I remember reading about! Of course Ill have a spot for the water to run off but also what extra nutrients do you advise me to get for the plant? Like arent there specific nutrients I need to grab and add weekly?

Always allow fresh air while lights are on. Doesn't need it when lights are off. Always monitor temps, upper 80s tend to cause problems but I've grown in the upper 90s with success. In general, larger plants can take higher temps. You should stay below 85. Don't grow unless you can control your temps.

Don't over feed. Give it clean water in between feeding nutes.

Don't be afraid to keep the top bent as low to the soil as possible as it grows (especially when you flip to bloom) keep that bitch low. Prolly wont be able to veg for more than a week, 2 weeks from seed? You might hit 1oz if you use the force or have good genetics.

i think it might work. I dont know if yo have your seeds yet nut if I were you I would go for a auto strain that stays small. my last was short stuff seeds blue himalaya auto. It grew to be like a foot tall maybe a little more without any training or lst.

Dam... I was never a fan of auto-flowers but I'll have to do some research and see if this is true!

Also I need some input on the passive intake! If I make a passive intake would smell escape from it? I heard those laundry detergent sheets could work but I'm not trying to have my bud smell like it.

Actually, I was thinking the foam would give off bad fumes for the plant if a bulb happened to droop and touch long enough to get the styrofoam hot.
Also, I think the OP should do some reading on distilled water before he goes running out and buying some.

2 stages of growth:
Veg: growth of more foliage and bud sites, usually done 24/7 lights, or 18/6 (18 on, 6 off) I just leave my veg lights on 24/7.

Flowering: development of flowers/buds, lights are switched to 12/12 (12 on, 12 off)

You control when you want to flower, just switch lights to 12/12, an within 3 weeks you will see sex, an then the development of hopefully dank nugs

I don't think that would be worth doing at all, I don't see it benefiting any more than one, and it will take up hella space. Have you built your box yet?

Also, I use nothing but fox farm ocean forest, and fox farms nutes....only other thing to add to feeding is superthrive. Now the nutes will be about 40$ for the set of 3 you need, but the soil is relatively cheap (8$ for a small bag) you should check my grow out its called My Stealf Dresser. I have a good example of LST in flowering, and an even better one to be updated tonight. That is all
