I may have misspoke somewhat about the easy and cheap part, but it is a very cost effective alternative to going to remote places and mining them out with human labor, such as that diamond crater in Siberia that was all the rage for a week maybe a year ago. (google if you have other questions about that)

By inedible cultivars, I mean species of plant that are not produced for human consumption (in a field to table, direct manner) and do not taste very good. Just cause I like you bear, I will even link to Monsanto's website, where they even specify what certain species are to be used for.
http://www.monsanto.com/products/Pages/processor-preferred.aspx - This is for ethanol production, does not taste like corn bought at the store.
http://www.monsanto.com/products/Pages/corn-seeds.aspx various corn seeds, the uses, etc.
Thanks, Totoe. Feed corn, essentially ... edible, just not palatable. cn

I remember once looking high&low for the used diamond market. I cannot find it! cn
The used diamond market exists, one of the biggest sellers is Chanthaburi, Thailand, who sell new and previously owned gems of all kinds for some of the best prices.

Also, some of the very best lab created synthetic diamonds cost more than the real ones.

Where do regular people go though to sell diamonds? Who are the buyers, and how do I tap into that? The prices on eBay are jewelry-store prices. Never mind overseas. cn

Yes, your ass has to actually swim to Thailand. You hire yourself a gem broker and expect to get way less than you thought. That South Park episode about Cartman selling gems to Asians is spot on.

Diamonds are over-rated. 99% of people can't tell a diamond from a similar colored topaz.

Do you guys have red potatoes there? I find the red ones make the most delicious mashed potatoes. I am ignorant when it comes to Potatoes I must admit, what kind do you have there in Ireland?
Lol, loads of different types.

The "Red Ones" are a cultivar called "Roosters".
