Reusing peat moss / perlite mix

Anyone know how possible it is to reuse peat moss / perlite, and what the potential problems would be? I can see the dead roots being an issue, as well as it being a way to spread root aphids.

The issue isn't one of cost, it's more about not having to throw out lots of soil everytime.

a healthy grow is key but yes is the short answer. any problems and you should throw it out. i reuse promix and have done foxfarms.. peat dropps the pH over time as it breaks down so either change after the second run or reuse half and use half new

yea - throw some amendments in there when u re-use - some worm poop, some bat and/or seabird guano, some glacial rock dust or azomite, and some kelp meal

also use some sort of enzyme to help eat up those dead roots - you can water it in after u remove the root balls and before u transplant and then after you transplant, hit the with some compost tea to get everything going again....i wouldn't re-use more than 3 times tho - so 4 runs total and then replace is what i do

oh - and you're not supposed to re-use your soil if you use any PGRs (which in my opinion, u really shouldn't use anyway if you care about what u or others smoke)

Make sure you flush the soil if you reuse it. Otherwise you're next babies will get nute burned. I found this out the hard way though it should have been obvious to me.

I reuse my soil...got tired of throwing away money on every grow.
I have been saving my old mix and amending it.
Dump, it on the compost pile and let it cook for a few months.

Works for me.

i dont have any literature on it - its just something i learned deep in the humboldt forest a while ago...

but i do get better overall runs after my first run and i've been doing it for years....

you also save time, money, and you don't waste as much - you do a lot of good by re-using ur soil

If re-using Promix for indoor organics would you just continue to do your final flush before harvest and then what? I plan on saving in a large trashcan for mixing dolomite and maybe a couple table sppons of Hygrozyme? I plan on transplanting clones into this reused promix but fear that the high P-K from flower may still be present. I would love to stop throwing out 100's of pounds of promix...and dollars.
