Leaves curling up and shiny appearance ???

Was thinking the leaf curl was low humidity but im baffled with the shiny appearance developing on most fan leaves ? . Any help would be appreciated .

1. 2.

Both plants show same symptoms , im thinking enviromental factor or infestation of maybe thrips ? .

:peace:.

Same issue, shiny spots mature into rusty necrotic spots- usually starts at the tip.

BUMP!

My intial guess:
-Cal/Mag deficiency
then
-Low RH (20%)

Now im set on it was Over Ferting.

Pretty sure those fan leaves a related to enviourment stress. Like to much heat on those girls. Maybe take your temps right above canopy level. Raise the lights if needed.

Thanks for the replys , here's a few particulars .

Strain. Feminized Bigbang2 & OG kush.

Soil: Biobizz allmix & biobizz feed

Fan : 4" extraction through CF with passive intake , also 6inch oscillating fan in there . Passive intake .

Temps : lights on 27 degress, lights off 15 degrees .

Lighting : 400 watt hid (i want a l.e.d ) about 16 inches from tops .

Tent : 1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0 .

Will check the p.h and p.h run off next watering & monitor the situation . Plants seenm healthy but even new growth is starting too develop the symptoms I mentioned ever so slightly ...Thanks for the replys ill keep this updated & see if I can sort this with a little help from more experienced growers . Cheers .

Is the shiny stuff on the fan leaves sticky or sweet-smelling? That could be a sign of some kind of bug or scale insect, but I don't see where they could hide on those plants without you seeing them. If a leaf gets sticky, you might find bugs on the bottom of leaves above it are sucking juices out of the plant and expelling that honeydew stuff out of their hind parts. Then ants move in and make the aphids or mealybugs their own personal livestock.

I suspected aphids but couldn't find any of the little critters on my lady's after a thorough inspection , the shiny stuff feels dry rather than sticky . Was thinking low R.H & high canopy temps was causing the curl & shiny appearance as the plants tried too conserve water . I ammended both and still have light symtoms on New growth . Gonna keep a keen eye next few weeks and post more pics of developing problems . Cheers for the reply .

The only environmental condition that I could see being the issue would be low RH, 77 degrees is nothing to write home about, though you should be on top of your ph. Just invested in a continuous monitor- kicks assssss!

I have read that the leaves transpire to compensate for low moisture in the air, causing leaves to curl and such.

Have you noticed a rise in your RH since the symptoms? Mine spiked from 19-20% to 45-50% but problems persist.

As for LED's. Everybody has their opinions, obviously. Ive rocked a 400w with some success, but mostly heat problems and loud fans. Since then I've purchased x2 Pro Grow 180's, Pro Grow 250, x2 Spectra 100's (serious 3w shit), and a shitty little UFO when they first hit the market. All for a bargain price, of course.

They're great products thus far, still have quite a bit of tweaking; but they are at this moment, changing the way we look several things- and ARE the wave of the future.

Do your research dude, it's that easy

do your research, ill put my hps room against your leds any day. tried and true, no worrying about leds burning out or fans going bad, and production out the ass. leds are still years away from being a contender.

hahaha woah kimosabi. In no way am I trying to start the 100th thread on here bickering about what's better, Ive followed SS for a while and have a level of respect I'm not quite ready to let go of.

If there wasnt as much traffic here I would have those ballasts, hoods..god...all that money outside collecting dust, runnin 2 600w and supping with my panels. THAT would be the life, but we live in reality, and have families.

Its all about scenario and what fits YOU.

You cannot beat the density of HID. period. lol. Same Team!

But to neglect the thought of another option as quickly as you had just because it does not fit your personal preference, is sad.

They are still ten years out, but they are still on the rise.

Never settle, always stretch to push the limits beyond the tried and true to bring a new level of understanding to the table; for the next generation to stretch.

Great band btw.

the only time i've ever seen shiny leaves is when you foliar feed them b1, it makes your leaves look like their shellacked.

This makes a bit of sence , I had bit of superthrive & a late-night brainstorm of foliar feeding them with it .....may have a winner here ....most plausible for the horrible shining ....leaf curl I'm thinking is definitely R.H related ...thanks everyone your info has been great .
