figured I would put up an update, my droopy hempy auto has turned around for the better :) Don't mind the droopy plant I fed it right before i snapped the pic

Also ... there are tiny holes in the Aluminium ducting that suck untreated air and expell it out the grow room. I noticed when looking inside the ducting and I could see light getting in. This IMO is how untreated air gets expelled out of most grow rooms.

What a beautiful looking Christmas trees. Instead of a Star on the top you got some phat bud. Nice! :weed:
Thanks alot Moebius! I'm really loving the hempy style as this is my first time using it. I may have flipped them too early with the space i have but oh well lol. Question: I'm using the maxibloom lucas formula and they are really happy with it, but I was wondering if hempy can be even better with a normal nute regimen? example I have botanicare and canna nutes lying around that I use with my peat mix/perlite runs

Yes, your Hempy can be better with a 'bespoke' nute regime than one proposed by 'Lucas'.

Lucas is good for a basic starting point but after that its all about dialing in a more tailored feed. i.e finding your additives, best pH or EC etc.

Your Canna and Botanicare nutes may even work better, as long as they have not spoilt.

I ran pure Maxibloom Lucas formula to test it out last run. While it ended up giving me a pretty decent crop I definitely had some Cal/mag deficiency. N deficiency too. I won't be running Lucas for flowering in hempy. At least not without some additives. In Lucas defense though I ran lighter than he suggests because I just couldn't see a hempy type set up using such high EC.

Thought id give an update. 4 of the 6 have broke ground and have been put into 16 oz cups and are soaking up some light. The other 2 I can see the plug material raised a bit so I'm hoping when I get up they greet me!

Hey best thread yet lots of good info. I'm rebuilding a flower room and want to change my set up. Right now I have 12k on a flipbox alternating 6 on 6 off every hr. The hoods vented on their on line from another room. I have a 10" fresh air intake with a cone filter and a 12" vortex 2052cfm exhausting thru a carbon filter. What I want to do is upgrade my ventilation and run glassless non-vented hoods for more light out put. So this is what I'm thinking about put my 12" 2050cfm on my fresh air intake and put a 16" vortex v-series 4515cfm on the exhaust to run every 3min and add a 24000 btu mini split to help as back up if things get hot. Any thoughts on what may go wrong and what I should or shouldn't do or get.

Nice one Steve. Good luck with the other two.

Sounds like a plan bawlout. Youve not included your room size but assuming thats large enough 'what could go wrong'?

Here's how I'm setup right now. I'm pulling air from inside a wall in my basement. That air travels through the air hood to which it's pulled over the light and out the fan on the either side. From there, to muffle the sound, I am using a speed controller to turn down the fan speed and then use another duct as an intake into my tent so the cold air is used to cool not only the 400 watt, but also inside the tent. There is a definite SUCK going on because the tent pulls in. I just have no idea how the smell is escaping. All the tent holes are zip lined shut. I'm at 5 weeks flowering and the smell intensifies by the day (as we all know :] )
Moebius is correct-a-mundo about leaks on the suction side of the fan..I too replaced a section of flex that had pinholes in the mylar coating....shining a flashlight at the outside while looking into the inside told the story. As well, look for leaks inside the room at the push side of the fan if blowing to the outside. I like wrapping flex with duct-tape before tightening the metal clamp. Sometimes carbon can be just plain ineffective during times of high humidity, like right after a rain storm in my area.

Moebius and Jela, thanks for all the help. When I get home tonight, I'm going to tape around the the seal of the air cooled hood. I really think that coupled with possible holes in the aluminum vent are the culprit. Reason being, I have my inline air hood fan on the same timer as the lights. When the lights are off, I can't smell a damn thing with the filter running. It's not until the lights kick on that the smell is present. Thanks guys!!! This is why I love W.O.H!!

Hey GUYS,, I'm working my First SCROG.. My Hempy's are 3 Gallons and they seem to be loving the new CMH Bulb setup I installed a couple of weeks ago, based on the Posts here.

Just went with the basic Northern Lights x Big Bud this time around :blsmoke:

100% Perlite
GH Flora Series - 700ppm (.5) on week 4
400w CMH Open Fixture

Looking good Rusty! I have a bean of this myself, but won't be till next fall that it's popped. Can't wait to see the yields. From the pics of other grows I've seen, it gets extremely frosty! Just in time for Christmas!

Moebius, so I looked down the aluminum vent and sure enough it looked light Christmas lights on the inside. What's the best duct to use for the grow room? Insulated ducts? Man, if I were to tape this whole vent it would 1.) take me FOREVER, 2.) cost me a bloody fortune in tape! Just wanted to check to see what everyone else has used. I'm using this duct for my air cooled hood and I know that odor must be getting sucked into it.

great start there. They look like they can be pulled under. My rule is if its long enough to cross a link of screen it's long enough to tuck. You might run into some watering issues when the screen fills up and so close to the pot tops. Once there's growth and whatnot going on it might be snug getting in there.

A few weeks back I compared the Alu Ducting from 2 different local hydroponic stores. One came in a box and was branded and had clips the other came without box was unbranded and looked cut-to-size. The boxed/ branded Alu Ducting was a much higher quality with far fewer holes. .... I moved the holey ducting onto the 'expel' side of the fan.

..... I have seen round PVC flexible ducting. Obviously this will have no holes. I see this product everywhere online but have not heard of peeps using it in their grow-rooms, I dont know why.

Insulated duct are a pain in the posterior, they are big, cumbersome and quite difficult to fit as well as 3x the $

One thing on tape .. Gorilla tape is too thick for sticking ducting. A thinner more flexible tape works best.

Edit:
I just want to say that although the ducting may look like a christmas tree on the inside. I'm unsure as to how much this will contribute to any odours. ... If you were to combine all those tiny holes into a single hole, it would be unlikely that they would be any larger than a dime. ... would this really make much of a difference?? .... I mentioned the tiny holes previously just to draw your attention to it. I wouldnt worry about it but would focus on other gaps elsewhere.

I recently became aware of new research the egg-heads are doing into how we smell. Its looking that quantum physics may have a role in explaining long standing questions about how we are able to identify such a broad range of odours.

Lol I just read the wiki on quantum physics out of boredom, and I can say I've got my fill for this lifetime! Wayyyy over my head :)
