Thanks Shaggn. This is probably the best grow (6th grow ever) I've ever had honestly. I'm happy with it, but certainly see some areas where I can make it even better. You'll love the Lucas for it's simplicity. It's the hempy elixer!

Doc, what is your lucas mix in a hempy. I know it's 8 Mic/16 Blo. Is it the same in a hempy under a HiD or do you tone it down to 1/2? I know strains have different appetites, so it can vary. Just looking for something to have reference too, thx.

Hmm Interesting idea ... Fabric Hempy, I'll have to ponder the issues.

With regards to the cat liter box. You'll notice mine are set in 42L underbed storage boxes. I noticed that the roots try to grow out the holes in the bottom of the hempy while they searched for water in the storage box. If the box was blacked out completely the roots would happily survive outside the hempy.

If your cat liter box was light-proofed, any roots would grow out of the holes and feed directly from the reservoir in the liter-box. My bottles only have 4 holes around the bottom, maybe 6 or 8 holes would allow more roots to grow out. ..... It will work IMO .. but will depend on how light proof the cat liter box was. .... Maybe not a cat-liter box but a black tub with proper lid.

I pondered a cloth hempy of sorts. I have some cloth pots and could use a deep plate as a res. water when the plates dry. Swap clean plates in as needed to remove crud. I'm up to try it, got another plant ready to transplant soon.

I've been logging some run-off readings, as you all know I use OC in the medium. So I've been checking the ph & EC of feed water and checking the run-off. I've been mixing up 2gal of water per event, this will give me a solid quart/liter of run-off. (I know its excessive but gives a good clean sample)

My feed water is real consistent, because it has no nutrient salts in it. All feedings start out Ph - 6.8 / EC .68

Below a list of run-off readings (this bucket was built on 11/15)

12/1 - ph 5.3 / ec 2.08
12/4 - ph 5.7 / ec 1.86
12/7 - ph 5.9 / ec 1.49
12/12 - ph 5.9 / ec 1.76
12/14 - ph 6.1 / ec 1.50

This shows me several things.
Using OC in coco there is no need for ph adjustments. (gonna check my next perlite bucket)
OC will release and feed as much as the plant can use, but this leads to less duration. (In the last 3 days I've seen fading, she needs more food)
I also took a couple of between watering samples of the rez, and it showed a ph drift upwards, and an ec that dropped only slightly. I need more of these samples before I make a WAG (wild ass guess)

Tonight is water time, I'm gonna spike the water.
EDIT: Stopped post to eat drink water & be merry. Added PK (no N) In water ph 6.6 ec .98 / run-off ph 5.5 ec 1.7

Here she is Maui-Thunder day 31.5;; Normally (with 3 to 4 plants) I will remove a lot of the side branches, but since it's solo I pulled the sides to the center.
These are flash shots right after lights out, I seem to get more true color, and interesting shadows.

Bam! And there it is ill fill her up tomorrow! It's a 1gal smart pot. I used Dixie cups to start some seeds this time so there's less soil. I figure once a week or whenever the plate looks gross ill swap in a clean one. If needed ill use a deeper dish, this will be for now.

WattSaver, awesome array of tops for day 31...that's gonna be one kick-ass chickita at finish...I like your timing on the PK spike too. I Just started the PK adds during week 4 or 5 on my last grow. Based on inputs here on RIU I dropped my base nutes a few ml during the adds and didn't suffer any burns. Looks like your Osmocote is letting up just enough to allow the same.

Hey Shaggn,, Yes its 8/16 for the Lucas Under HID Lighting.. That is FULL Strength, but I never really made it to full strength cause its just a little hotter than I like.

Shaggn, I've been feeding them at full strength each watering. Per 2.5 gallons, I'm using 20ml/40ml. It's HiD lighting.

Great minds think alike! I'm using this soup to feed all of the plants including my moms. They don't mind the pineapple rush and are flourishing.

Here's my next "Ebb no flow". Strain is Chaka party mix of course! These will be going into 12/12 soon. I dont have alot of hydro nutes and I want them both to make it through before I decide to buy more. The plates are 1" deep, I measured today for reference.

My perlite is so fine if I rinsed it Id lose half of it, so it goes in dry and thats it. It got a rinse, but in the cloth, then a final flush with nutes.



Here's the other girl. Just finished that first gallon of nutes. I mixed it up one more notch for her next, 20ml grow/gal instead of 15. Same 1/4tsp h202 and 1/8tsp humic. PH 5.9 PPM 685

For some reason I had started using this pH dwn stuff quite a bit. I really don't know why because my plants always looked and smoked great. I guess I must have read something somewhere and decided it was what I needed.

Ive never had more lock-outs since. It seems that in this growing game you can take 1 step forward and 2 steps back. ... Maybe I should have looked at lowering my pH another way rather than adding Phosphoric acid. or even just leaving the pH high.

I have a bunch of cuttings in the cloner and I'll try and do a few things different next time, i'll try some H202 and cal/mag.

LOL. Theres a stoners invention if I ever saw one.

I bought a 10 foot piece of pvc at home depot couple years ago, think it was like 2 bucks for the whole damn thing, and then a LARGE plastic funnel, about 3 times that size, and glue it together after taking a heat gun and putting a slight bend in the pvc towards the top so the top of the funnel sat more level and I could pour faster, and cutting it to length, think I made it about 5 or 6 foot long. Works good when scrogging, and costs less than 5 bucks to make.

Or you can duct tape little tiny tubbing to an equally tiny funnel to a perfectly good broom handle.

No change, I just started using it because I read the 'perfect' range was 5.8-6.8. ... I never considered pH swing once I fed the plant. .... So Ive been using the down to get to pH 6 .,.. but my guess is that soon after I feed, the run-off drops even further, causing lockout.

Well, im thinking an alternative is to up the base bloom nutes even further and hope not to burn. .... at least it will give a balanced formula (with micros) rather than increasing with just P.

I still won't drop down far enough, maybe to about pH6.8 from tap water @pH 7.5(ish) but then maybe add just a tiny bit of down.

another alternative is to just not use it at all. With my first hempys I never worried about pH and I don;t remember having the problems Ive had since using.
IMO .... frequent pH and EC readings are more important in recirculating systems. ... I could measure my run-off to see if I drop down into range without the H3PO4.

my ph is 8.5...brutal! ppm is good tho at 120ish
