Flushing question?

Flushing removes excess salts and fertilizer from the soil which removes salts and fertilizers (which ruin the taste and burning consistency of your buds) through osmosis from the plant. Try smoking a joint of your un-flushed and once you get done relighting it sixty times you'll see what I mean.
Flushing changes very little, except possibly stunting the growth of your plant for the final weeks.

A good cure is the only requirement for a good smoke.

You're kidding, right? Have you ever seen how much buds swell during the flushing period? It's pretty substantial! Also it won't taste like shit and would burn correctly. I guess if you like lighting your joint 30 times and having a black charred up piece of shit bowl then that theory is practical.

Oh right on I'm over on the east side in kent county. What strains do you grow?
Here's some pics: first two are of a Lemon Cake OG plant in it's second flush sitting in the shower. (Guess I grew that too :/ and straw cough.) next is the veg I worked with. Next two are the flower week 2 about. Next two are the same plants, 3 or 4 weeks later about.

You really have no idea how your plants use nutrients. By the time nutrients get to your buds they are broken down into usable elements by your plant. Your plants swell during your "flushing" period because plants are supposed to swell during the last few weeks. Try flushing an outdoor plant. Better yet, smoke an outdoor plant and one grown indoors, both cured properly, and you won't know a single difference. Taste and burning have nothing to do with nutrients. How long have you been growing/smoking?

Please GTFO with your misinformation you got off youtube. :wall:

I am actually starting my first grow with 5 seedlings of Cheesequake and 5 seedlings of Deep Purple. I used to work for a caregiver and wanted to do this whole thing on my own. I have grown TGA's Vortex, Ace of Spades, Agent Orange, Chernobyl, Third Dimension, and The void; Cali Connection's Tahoe Og, Ogiesel, Larry OG, and Chem Valley Kush; G-13 labs Pineapple Express; and Connoisseur Genetic's Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze. Got a bit of experience and can't wait to punch out my own stuff.
That's tits man I'm growing sour diesel( allegedly), white diesel, and tiger's milk. Where and how did you get your og kush or the Larry og? The best shit I've ever smoked was some og and I would love to get my hands on a strong pheno

From every other cannabis related site that passes it on along with other cannabis growing old wives tales.
Pretty much.

Just for the record. If something tastes bad, won't light, and ends up blackened and charred, it's because it's WET bud. It's not dried all the way and not cured for at least a month. Try taking a fresh bud ready to be harvested, chop it up and try to smoke it in a joint. It will taste bad, won't stay lit if you can light it, and will end up blackened and charred.

That's not a constructive statement what-so-ever. I looked at some more of your comments, seems you like to dry weed in the oven and microwave. You seem pretty professional. And if you wanna educate me then do so. Also I can't say that I smoke wet weed because i'm not a desperate douche-bag that dries weed in a fucking oven.

There is alot of controversy about this on the site and I may experiment with it. But I think getting rid of the extra bullshit and chlorophyl makes for a smoother smoke. Maybe I'm wrong but it's gonna take alot more than a whiny comment from a little pussy to change my mind. Maybe like an article, or a link to a flushing thread where people who actually know what they're talking about, talk about it. Not saying that i for sure know you're an idiot, Jack the BongRipper, but, when you make a comment like that you leave people no choice :/

Why are you flushing if you are growing in soil?? Are you not growing organically? Organic nutrients don't leave residues or off-flavors in your herb, all you are doing is depriving your plants of key nutrients in the last weeks of their lives, a very important part as far as terpene and resin production are concerned. Just my .02.

I'm only familiar with 1 synthetic line as of now. Lots of left over salts in the dirt. Now that I'm running my own grow I'd like to not flush a couple and see how they turn out cause now I'm interested. Thanks for the constructive criticism, I'm still a young padawan.

Again, the 'flush or not to flush' debate.
Personally, I do not flush, because my thought process tells me that from the time you 'start flushing with plain water to remove salts and such from the soil', whatever nutes and (salts?) that are already in the buds, branches and stem, are not going to disappear or evaporate.
I feel that all you are doing at this point, is preventing the plant from uptaking any nutes to continue whatever weight it might gain in that last week.

Flushing is a myth. My outdoor plants dont get flushed by mother nature neither do my indoor get flushed by me. They both smoke grt.

Dude, you're new, have a whole 30 something posts including this thread, and admit you're on your first grow, but want to argue about flushing and start name calling?
I can almost be sure that IF Jack did say something about quick drying in the oven or microwave, you did not quote or maybe even read the whole conversation.
I personally don't flush, I see no reason to starve my plant for the weeks in which it is piling on the last weight, and have tried it both ways, and couldn't tell a difference.

Because I've consulted medical patients that need their weed immediately on how to oven dry a tiny amount if it's an emergency.... never said it should be done, but it can be done if someone needs to... that makes me a douche. Cool with me oh wise one. :peace:

You've had how many harvests? Do whatever you want, I don't care. Maybe my comments won't sound so whiny and like a pussy if you stop reading them out loud. Just some advice big guy. Good luck with all that.
