When should I start flowering?

Hey guys, I started growing two plants casually earlier this year (indoor), they almost died at first as I wasn't able to give them enough attention, but now I've been able to turn things around (I think so at least ). I'm wondering when I should start flowering the plants.

The information that needs to be considered:
The lights that I have are relatively weak (They give about 2700 Lumens I think), so they won't be able to supply that much light to the plant.
The leaves at the top of the plant are by far more developed than the leaves at the bottom ( as you can see in the pictures), so I think it will be very top-heavy once it flowers.
The ventilation isn't amazing, but the temperatures are maintained reasonably.

They'll more than likely double to triple in size during flower so if your not going to top, supercrop or lst you should start now. (you could lst in flower, but if you top or supercrop give her a few days to a week to recover)

Ok cool good advice, I wasn't planning on doing any topping/supercropping, so I'll probably start the flowering within a couple days. Out of curiosity, what do you think the yield will be? (Not expecting much)

A pretty good rule of thumb with most ind/sat hydrids is when they are half the size you want em start your flower... this will vary... the more indica dom the less strech the more sativa dom the more strech but there are those on occasion that stray from the norm so do a litle research on the strain your going and this will provide you with a better idea of how that particular strain will react to not only flower strech but nutrient tolerance drought tolerance and so on and so fourth.. hope this helps

I'm no expert but I believe you have a nute deficiency. Correct me if I'm wrong folks but I think the purple in your stalk is a mag def. But your plants are mature as evidenced by the alternating node growth. Good luck!

Interesting, I notice that the nutrients i have been giving the plants have no magnesium, is there any way to give magnesium to the plant easily without buying different nutrients? Is it worth worrying about?

Edit: I just noticed one of the plants has some yellow spots on it, this is a sign of a mag deficiency I'm pretty sure, so you are probably right. What should I do about it? I read somewhere that dissolving small amounts of epsom salts into the water for the plants can be effective for giving the plant the extra magnesium needed. Is that a good idea?

If you've already got yellowing and haven't went into flower yet then you've got a nitrogen def as well. Only time that the yellowing is acceptable is near end of flowering as plants use up N. Not sure how our what to add the mag. Haven't had that problem yet....knocking on wood.....
