Before I spend a bunch of time researching this, I would like to ask if anyone here already has.
I called downtown eyecare in marquette and have them checking around as well.
I have seen ads in grow magazines as well, but don't feel like flipping through a bunch of magazines right now. lol.

HPS or any HID light source is harmful to vision. Additionally unprotected MH emits UV rays. Polarized glasses are a good idea if working under these lights for any period.

Check out the method seven sunglasses. They are designed for grow rooms and protect against hps lighting. They are a bit pricey but I just got my method seven resistance (top model) for $129 on eBay, about the price of some oakleys I figure. It's a great product, won high times 2011 new product of the year if I'm not mistaken.

Not much UV from MH. I agree otherwise.
I said "unprotected" and yes there is UV from MH. If barrier glass is not present to block UV it is present in dangerous amounts if prolonged exposure. I can prove my point, you cannot.

Look at the spectrum produced. Very little below 400 nm. What little output is present is at pretty low intensity.

I've called them about this just two months ago. No prescription, but they are looking at the large over-your-glasses types of glasses.

I think several companies are trying to make those, I sure don't want to hassle with that.
I will probably have to just get the best contacts that I can and buy the method 7 glasses.

The eye doctor I called in Marquette actually called their labs and one of them said they have old school rose colored glass lenses for $450 a set. Actual glass isn't that safe either.

Oakley makes prescription because I've got a pair.
Not sure about all the coatings; but come on - it's Oakley. lol.

I don't want to say it foolishly, but I am not so concerned about price. Everything optical is overpriced. Everything mj related is overpriced as well.
I'm putting these on my face and it needs all the help it can get.
Prescription Oakleys will probably have to be the way to go, if I am not able to get contacts and the method 7s.
I have been putting it off for awhile now and I am getting headaches and shit.

I have worn the method 7s and the lumii's and they are both really nice in a grow room. I do think the 7s are better just not 125$ better. My friend has both 2 pair of method 7's for him and his wife and 2 pair of lumii's for guests. I keep on planning on getting a pair but always have something else I need to spend $ on and I not a big fan of the styles as I usually only wear aviators .

My thoughts are as follows....

if you need these glasses...that's when you absolutely know beyond all shadow of a doubt that you are a true "pot bad ass"

in other words....you are my hero!

Hey Glad can I make a quick suggestion? Have you talked to this guy?

They may take a day or two to get back to you but this guy really seems to know his shit about eye safety. And no I don't have any affiliation :).
Good Luck and Happy Growing
