I can't contend for best grow room, but I have an informational experience with pictures relating to a grow room setup:

If you buy sixteen 8" 90 degree duct elbows online (I bought from De-Home-De-pot), they more than likely will come in good sized box:

The boxes then can be used to house your exhaust fan and insulation to deaden the noise pollution.
I used left-over ridged foam board to add some rigidity to the box- but it's not necessary:

Next you would want to cut the holes for your ducting/fan configuration
IMG_0650.jpg I used the ducting itself to draw an outline on the outside of the box, then used a drywall saw/knife to cut the holes.

Next I stuffed left-over insulation around the fan:

yeah man, if you're suggesting the boxes as a potential growspace that wouldn't really be a good idea, ...paper, water and electricity are a bad combination, ...free weed isn't worth burning the house down.

...not to mention how easy it is to get a more substantial space to work with.

peace, bozo

...ahhhh, 'i see' said the blind man, lol.

Seal the box and...Viola- you have now reduced the noise pollution of your fan ( in my case by, what seems like, more than half):

Even though the fan itself is insulated, noise still emits from the ducting protruding out of the sealed box.
Here I have used insulated flex ducting to contain the noise.

View attachment 2457972 once the exhaust reaches the attic, the noise is no longer an issue- due to the addict being insulated.

In conclusion:
I am containing the noise until it can reach a muffler- which in my case is my attic.

I, too, would discourage someone from growing in a cardboard box

Here is what I have used as a grow room:
IMG_0716.jpgIMG_0712.jpgIMG_0713.jpgIMG_0547.jpgIMG_0639.jpg

It is an 8' x 4' x 7' 6" box built from ridged foam board for walls, 2"x4" for framing, and plywood for floor and roof.
not only does it maximize my light efficiency it allows me to keep a really clean environment ( filtered intakes).
Also, with around 450 cfm being sucked through an in-box carbon scrubber then both 1000watt lights, the box will stay ten degrees warmer then the ambient outer-room temperature-
with the lights off it gets 12-15 degrees colder. The exhaust fans run 24/7.
It's essentially a rigid filtered tent that allows for a negative pressure environment ( what tents are not designed for)

Minus the lights and carbon scrubber, a box will cost around $300 to build

Some more pics:
IMG_0672.jpgthe duct elbows are outside of the box because I used giant hoods and didn't have internal space. If One were to use smaller hoods or smaller diameter ducting, the duct can be internal.

it's plain to see i spoke much too soon, ...that is one nice op you got there my friend, i am jealous, lol.

me, i'm just a hobbiest feeding my head and i come here to try and help new people when and where i can and it's really nice seeing someone with an op like that taking time to share the knowledge, aka the love.

...and i like the DIY muffler, an excellent use of cardboard boxes, ...lol, just the fact you had a need for that many elbows should have been clue enough for me to see you had some skills!

so thanks for sharing and thanks for not rubbing my face in my hasty stupidity, i won't forget your courtesy.

In my opinion, you were the victim of my unorthodox posting style-- my apologies.

BTW, I like your Jefferson quote.
