My very first grow room

Just did the transplanting, wow the roots on those plants were all over. So now, I have 2 plants in 5 gallon pots and the other 2 plants in 2 gallon pots ( it's what I had ). Shopping bags, now that interesting.Of the 4 remaining plants, the tallest is now closing in on 20 inches. :) ​

A few pics from this morning. Yesterday, I re-transplanted four plants because they didn't look ok and when I removed them from their 1.5 gallon pots, I realized why, roots were so tight that all I could see was white veins everywhere.

Anyhow, they are now in bigger containers and should be happy. Tallest plant is closing in on 20 inches and shortest is 10.

Hi Bigrake, Plants are ok now that I placed them in larger containers. Had to get rid of two of the three bag seed plants ( males ), had some small discoloration issues with bottom fan leaves, but otherwise, they are now growing and looking real good. Hoping to get a decent yield but mostly, I'm still learning.

It's now been 7-8 days in 12/12 light cycle and I'm about to start DNF Bloom A&B to help promote flowering. I'm already mentally preparing my next grow which will be all about SCROG-ing. Will create 2 scrog screens ( 3' x 3' +- ), each under a 600watt HPS light and see what comes of that, lol. Will figure out what are my best and most productive strains that I have on hand for this and then go for broke. :)

Hi rooky, for sure I am. Just waiting about another week before starting to feed them DNF Bloom A&B, as soon as I see the first signs of budding, for now, only some white hairs have appeared ( which is a good thing ). I'M very excited at the idea of seeing buds appear soon. Then another 2 months +- before harvesting. :)

I have to say, Looking GREAT! See the build was for better for sure! It looks like you can get some good plants going in there. I noticed that the humidity/temp gauge on the floor... is that what I am seeing? If it is I would try and keep it around the tops of the plants to get a good idea of heat and humidity in that region. You can see in my grow, I have been stacking cups as the plants grow. I think you will be happy with scrog... just make sure that you pluck the bottom buds on these girls as you can eliminate popcorn budding and put forth more plant effort to the top buds... I did not do that last grow and had many popcorn bud, though they were potent... just not as potent as the top buds were. This was under a 150 watt hps during flowering (1 plant only) I ended up yielding about 23 to 25 grams... So I was not disapointed at all! I was happy as I had learned a lot that grow and have made changes accordingly to the current grow.. though I did not super crop this time (will have to see next time when I pop the other beans of these two types). Oh, and get your self some bamboo sticks (3 feet tall should work good) so that you can 'support' your girls later down the road. In all, I think that you have yourself a nice setup that will benefit you for years to come!

Your enthusiasm is absolutely contagious I am rooting for you. Just be easy at first with the nutes maybe 1/4 strength for a week and monitor their reaction as this is a very important time in your girl's life. I hope they put out their very best effort for you because I know that you have put the effort in them.

Thank you, yes it a humidity/temperature gauge. To be honest, I hadn't realized this and will be adjusting accordingly. I did put a bamboo stick for the tallest one and will do the same for the others soon enough. I hope to see at least the tallest one reach a height of 3 feet by the end of flowering. I'll likely need pointers on how to super crop when the time comes. Have a wonderful New Year! :)

it's not the NPK that stimulates flowering. it's the EC. your plants are begging for more nitrogen...hence the yellowing bottom leaves. slowly creep up on their needs. 1/3 strength DNF every watering. pH 5.8. aim for 15-20% runoff. let the pots get dry (they'll be very light) between waterings. A rule is never to put a sick plant into flower. fix the deficiency first.

don't top the headband. a buddy has his at 2 weeks in flower now...they practically prune themselves. i instructed him to put them in 3 gal pots. that should be more than enough under 1000 watts. I hope your plants look like this. headband.jpg

when flowers really start to show, start removing sun leaves.

My larger Headband is beginning to look like that pic. I'll be watering them tomorrow with DNF A&B grow and will make sure they get plenty of it, then will them dry out enough, do one more watering and on to DNF A&B Bloom. Plants are doing ok, but did have a problem with some yellowed and spotty leaves. I can how Headband wouldn't need any topping when I see the pic you posted. Thank you for being so helpful Crysmatic. :)

I was just checking the specific strain of Headband seeds I had bought and was pretty glad to read what I had as there are a few strains of Headband, some more sativa dom and others on the indica dominant side. Here is what my babies are:

818 HEADBAND Aka SOUR OG Cannabis Seeds( Original Sour Diesel x SFV OGK IBL) This Award winning Strain( 2k11 High Times Medical Cannabis Cup Michigan 1st place Hybrid Category) This cross is my Original Sour Diesel cut which is known as AJ's cut aka Asshole Joe aka Weasel as in the first cut to come out of his room of the Famous Sour Diesel collection.. This is the precursor to ECSD. I took this cut and crossed to my SFV OG Kush IBL male. I expect stellar results to come from this cross.. She can easily become one of your personal favorites real fast.. The off spring shows great structure and solid kolas with fuel sour kerosine funk. We decided to Dub this the 818 Headband to pay a little homage to our stomping grounds. Here in the 818. Flower time will be 8-9 weeks Yields will be great 800+g m2

Nice!! Yeah with my current grow I'M trying scrog I've heard a lot of good things about it. I want to try it out well I'll be checking in on the grow to see the progress. Happy growing and stay frosty

What strain(s) are you running ... I have a sieve for memory. Yes, I will be jumping on the scrog wagon right after I'm done growing this batch of Headbands. Will take some picks friday or more likely saturday when it will be about 2 weeks into 12/12. :)

Will be taking new pics soon, bud sites popping up more and more, my 3 Headbands are 15", 18" and 26" in height and the bag seed plant is about 18".

All are growing under one 600watt HPS on a 12/12 cycle. Tomorrow morning I begin giving them DNF Bloom A&B organic based nutrient formula ( can be used for hydroponics or soil ).

Today, going to go buy a 4' x 4' tray to place under my plant containers as well as a soil meter for pH, light intensity and moisture, plus pick up a soil pH kit as I become more aware of the needs of my plants.


I realize that I've been giving them tap water so I need to address this ( fluoride and slightly heavy water ) in order to balance the pH level. Will keep you all updated.

quality comes from genetics. yield comes from good gardening.

imo, 6" rockwool blocks would be goof proof, and give super results. Even with "organic" fertilizer. Dutch use it for roses, veggies, etc. Only hobby farmers can screw it up...so they've been going back[wards] to pro mix :/ Grodan101 dot com has a bunch of excellent videos (I believe Christina Applegate narrates them). they got me to invest in slabs, and I'm promoting it to all my grower buddies (I'm also reading much more advanced material). I carried all my substrate for 15 bushes in one hand...no messing with bags of promix, pots, or the mess. hth

Sigh of relief, the pH of my Bloom A&B liquid feed for the plants is just fine ( 6.5 ) and what small yellowing and necrosis that had occurred was likely due in one part to under watering and also to stress from transplanting or what might have been the beginnings of root bound before transplanting. In any case, things are really looking good for my plants, the are budding more and more everyday and today will mark the first feed of the DNF A&B Bloom feed ( after about two weeks in 12/12 while still on a Grow formula ).
Now, it's the remainder of weeks in full flower mode, and that's what I find giggidy, lol. Will takes pics soon and post them here. :D

Hi Crysmatic, I'll take a look at the rockwool block aspect and read up on it for sure though at this point, you know I'm not about to waste the big bags of Pro-Mix and will continue using it with damn good results for now. For me, switching over to rockwool would necessarily have to mean it's less expensive because I'm liking the soil less thing so far, especially combined with the DNF formulas, makes my life pretty easy and doesn,t eat into my professional life too much ( very jealous of my career production time, lol ).

I'll need to learn more about your rockwool. :)
